How should we view climate change? Should we be worried? There are many different

opinions on climate change that ask the questions, it is happening? Are humans the cause? And

What is a proper stewardly response to climate change? This day and age people are very

concerned about climate change.

To begin, climate change is long-term shift in weather conditions identified by changes

in temperature, precipitation, winds, and other indicators. It can have natural causes, such as

volcanic activity, solar output and the Earth’s orbit around the sun. And it could also be caused

by humans by burning fossil fuels and the conversion of land and forestry and agriculture.

("Causes of climate change.", 2019)

The way the world views climate change, is that it is an extreme thing that we must fix

right away or else we are all going to die. They believe that humans are the cause of global

warming. They believe this because of the melting ice glaciers and the rising sea levels that are

destroying animal habitat. Which, in a way is true. But based on the climate models, the

temperature has only increased a small amount in a long time. 0.001 degrees Celsius in one

year. Their opinion is that humans are ruining the earth, changing the climate and in the years

coming we will have dramatic changes in our Earth’s climate. The sea level is rising as a result of

warming from the suns radiation in the atmosphere, not from the melting of glaciers. They

assume that the greenhouse gases involved in global warming are all caused by humans.

("Causes of climate change.", 2019)

Another view of global warming is from the people who do not think it’s real. Physicist

Russell Humphreys says that: “Recent warming has occurred, but no need for panic and that

higher atmospheric carbon dioxide levels likely contributed to abundant vegetation in the pre-

Flood world.” He admits that the earth has increased in temperature, but not by enough to

make a huge panic of it. Michael Oard believes the same thing and says that: “A small amount of

warming has occurred, but that most of the warming is probably due to natural climate

variations” (Herbert, Jake, 2016)

The graph above shows the way the climate has increased starting at the year 1850 to

2030. They gathered the information from 1850 through the climate models that we have

today that predicted what it was like back then and by measuring ice cores and tree rings. (Dr.

Elizabeth, 2013)
In my opinion, I think that yes, the climate has increased, but not by a lot that we have

to make a big deal of it. We shouldn’t be blaming humans and threatening doom and death to

the whole planet. As Christians we know that God has a plan and we just have to trust Him to

know what is best for us and trust that He will take care us and the Earth. Humans are not

capable of changing the climate, only God is. So, we shouldn’t be worried because God has it

under control.

In conclusion, is climate change happening? Yes, but not to an extreme. Is it caused by

humans? No, it is caused by natural events such as volcanic activity etc. and sun radiation in the

atmosphere. What is a proper stewardly response? Yes, we can do what we can to stop the

burning fossil fuels, and CO2 in the air, but we must trust in what God’s plan is and accept that

He is in control of all things.
