A teacher asked students to write paper. She told the class, “Write what you would do if you a million dollars.
Do you all understand?
The students said they understood. They all began writing. They wrote for hour except for one student, Terry
Jones. He wrote for only half a minute and then just sat at desk. He didn’t write another word. At the end of the
class, the students gave their papers to the teacher. She looked at them all as the students gave them to her. Finally
she saw Terry’s paper. “This is what I do if I had a million dollars, “she read.
There was nothing else on the page. She looked at Terry. “I don’t understand,” she said. “Everyone except you
has written two pages. You wrote only one line. After that, you have done nothing.” That’s right. “Terry said. “If
I had a million dollars, that’s what I would do. Nothing “

Harland Sanders was born in the USA in 1890, but his childhood wasn’t a happy one. His father died when he
was only six so his mother needed to find a job. She went to work in a shirt factory and Harland stayed at home
to look after his younger brother and sister. That was when he first learnt to cook.

He left home when he was twelve and worked on a nearby farm. After that he had a lot of different jobs and in
1930 he became a service station manager in Corbin, Kentucky. He started cooking meals for hungry travelers
who stopped at the service station, and soon people came only for the food. Harland moved to a 142- seat
restaurant across the street where he could serve all his customers. Over the next nine years he developed the
secret chicken recipe that made him famous.
In the early 1950s he closed the restaurant and decided to sell his recipe to other businesses. The first official
Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant didn’t open until August 1952- by 1964 there were more than 600 KFCs in
North America- that year Sander sold the company for $ 2 million.

This trip to the Brazilian jungle camping with my friend Josh hasn’t been as great as I hoped. I thought it was
going to be lots of fun, but camping doesn’t always live up to your expectations! Something horrible happened
on the very first day. We were staying at a campsite in the rainforest, and we needed to take our full bag of trash
to the trash cans, which were kept in an area well away from the tents. Josh didn’t want to take the trash because
he said it smelt horrible, and the trash cans were a long way from our tent. I thought this was a very bad attitude
because you have to be responsible about getting rid of your trash, especially when you’re in the wild, and
because it’s important to be considerate to other people on the campsite. To be honest, I felt Josh’s attitude was
embarrassing for a young adult, and thought he should grow up. I decided to take the trash myself, but first I
opened up the bag to sort out the items for recycling. I don’t always recycle as much as I should, but the
Brazilian jungle seemed a good place to put that right. As soon as I opened the bag, a cloud of mosquitoes flew
out all around me. I started to run, but the bag broke and trash went everywhere. I slipped on the trash and fell
over, and ended up lying on the smelly trash and unable to get up because I’d hurt my ankle. I felt like
screaming!

Este viaje al campamento de la selva brasileña con mi amigo Josh no ha sido tan bueno como esperaba. Pensé
que iba a ser muy divertido, ¡pero acampar no siempre cumple con tus expectativas! Algo horrible sucedió el
primer día. Estábamos alojados en un campamento en la selva tropical, y teníamos que llevar nuestra bolsa llena
de basura a los botes de basura, que se mantenían en un área bien alejada de las tiendas. Josh no quería tomar la

Walt Disney
Walt Disney was a man pioneer of the Hollywood animated movie industry who is remembered for the
charming cartoon mouse, Mickey Mouse, along with other much-loved characters such as Donald Duck, Goofy,
and Pluto. Disney achieved great success due to tenacity, imagination and use of technical innovations. In 1937,
he released Snow White and the Seven Dwarves – the first feature-length animated movie to be in full color and
sound. The movie had several years to complete, and cost far more to make Disney had estimated, but it was
instant commercial and critical success. More successes followed with iconic animated movies Fantasia,
Dumbo and Pinocchio. Walt Disney’s company a number of setbacks In the 1940s, but the 1950s the studios
were once again producing animated features such as Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty and 101 Dalmatians. In 1968,
the studios released Mary Poppins, which features a mix of live action and animation, and which was the last
movie that Walt Disney produced. Nowadays, Disney’s name is as much associated with theme parks as it is
with his movies. His theme park Disneyland was opened in California in 1955 and, despite some early
problems, became successful with millions of visitors each year. Construction of another entertainment
complex, Disney World in Florida, began in the 1960s but unfortunately Walt Disney died in 1968, before the
park was open. Today, there are other Disney attractions in Japan, France, China, Hong Kong and Hawaii.
