Title of the lesson: It started as a fairytale –culture and civilisation
Time: 50 minutes

Aims of the lesson:


 To develop skill of reading/listening for general understanding
 To encourage the students’ enjoyment of reading
 To develop the skill of reading for essential information
 To develop their knowledge about the British royal family
 To practise the information newly acquired

 Lesson stages:

 Activity 1: Warm up
Aim: Introduce students in the atmosphere of the English class.
Procedure: Teacher asks for the absents. The student on duty tells the
absents.Teacher checks students’ homework. Then teacher checks their previous
knowledge about famous people.

 Activity 2: Listening
Aim: Develop listening skills
Procedure: Teacher asks students to open their books at page 81 and tells them in
a few words what the text is about and to read the text as they listen. Students
enjoy listening to the story.

 Activity 3:Extensive Reading


Aim: Develop reading skills for general understanding
Procedure: Teacher asks students to read the text loudly. Teacher tells students
not to worry about the unknown words. If they ask, teacher can give them a quick
translation and move on. In pairs, they take it in turns to answer the questions from
the first exercise from the same page.

 Activity 4 : Practice
Aim: Develop reading skills for specific information
Procedure: Teacher draws the chart on the blackboard. Teacher asks students to
have in mind the time in history , the main characters, and the main events as they
read the story again. Teacher encourages short , concise answers when students
have finished reading the story.

 Activity 5:Extensive information


Aim : Extend vocabulary of ‘British royal family’
Procedure: Teacher asks students to look at the video projector and pay attention
at the British Royal Family Tree. This picture raises their interest in the topic.
Teaches gives students worksheets (with pictures) about some members of the
British royal family. They have to complete the worksheets with some information
about the most important royal members.

 Activity 6: Giving the homework


Aim: Edit Our king’ s Family Tree
Procedure: Teacher asks students to edit our king’s family tree at home and
marks the students who participated in the lesson. Students write down their
homework.
