Estimation of losses and efficiency based on datasheet graphs

Some device data sheets include plots of turn-on, turn-off and total switching loss energy as functions of
device conducting current (current through the device in the on-state) and blocking voltage (voltage
across the device in the off state). The objective of this problem is compute losses and efficiency in a
drivetrain boost converter using IKW75N60T devices. You may assume the following:

 Inductor ripple is small, iL  0.

 Losses other than semiconductor conduction and switching losses can be neglected.
 Battery voltage is Vbat = 250 V, while the bus voltage can be one of two possible values,
Vbus,min = 400 V or Vbus,max = 500 V.
 The switch duty cycle is approximately equal to the duty cycle in an ideal converter without
losses, D Dideal.
 Devices operate at the worst-case junction temperature Tj = 175oC
 To turn on the IGBT, a gate driver supplies VGE = 15 V.
 Switching frequency is fs = 20 kHz.

Using the data-sheet graphs shown in Fig. 6, Fig. 13, Fig. 16, and Fig. 27, estimate conduction and
switching losses for the battery current equal to Ibat = 20A, 40 A, 60 A, and 80 A, for each of the two
specified bus voltages, Vbus, min and Vbus, max. Present your results in a table. Plot converter efficiency as a
function of battery current (Ibat) for the two specified bus voltages.
