Jacksonville, Fla., April 8, 2019- First Coast Wind Symphony and Atlanta-based group Tara
Winds are giving concert goers an afternoon of good music for a good cause. The groups will be
featured in a Star Wars themed concert at the Jacksonville University Terry Concert Hall on
May 19 at 3pm, with proceeds from the concert going to benefit local nonprofit Changing
Homelessness. Changing Homelessness is an organization that works towards ending
homelessness in Duval, Clay, and Nassau counties.
The concert will feature music from the film series Star Wars, as well as other favorites, such as
Robert W. Smith’s, “Postcards from the First Coast”, and Leonard Bernstein’s “Three Dance
Episodes from On the Town.”
The event will also include an awards ceremony during the intermission for the recipients of
“Top Women Igniting Success in Jacksonville.” The ceremony will be hosted by author and
professional speaker Snowden McFall. The award given out at the ceremony will be presented
to influential women who have had a substantial impact contributing to the success of
Jacksonville.
Concert-goers will spend a feel-good afternoon celebrating the arts and local influencers, while
supporting the community effort to prevent and end homelessness on the First Coast. Tickets to
the Benefit are priced at $50 each, and may be purchased online at FCWS-

ABOUT FIRST COAST WIND SYMPHONY
The First Coast Wind Symphony is an all-volunteer community music organization located in
Jacksonville, Florida. The title "First Coast" refers to Northeast Florida, where early French and
Spanish explorers settled, and home to St. Augustine, America's oldest city. The group was
founded in 1990 as the First Coast Wind Ensemble and is registered as a 501c3 nonprofit
organization. It is a member of the Association of Concert Bands, a national organization of
community bands, and the Cultural Council of Jacksonville. Their mission is to serve as a
cultural resource by providing outstanding performances of quality wind music in the greater
Jacksonville, Florida area.
