When I first heard from Sir Ryan Fontanilla, the Research Coordinator of Medical Colleges of
Northern Philippines (MCNP) and International School of Asia and the Pacific (ISAP) that he
submitted my paper together with my other colleagues’ research papers for an international research
conference, I was amazed I did not expect that he would passed it. Days later, some of the research
abstracts of my colleagues were able to pass the screening committee of the said event and mine
was not. I was a bit discouraged but I said maybe it’s not God’s will that I have to present my paper
in an international research conference, the mere fact that it is in Visayas region, I was worried of
the money I’ll be needing to leave for my kid’s food and allowance and at the same time I thought
also of the pocket money I’ll be needing in Leyte; so for me it was reasonable as well. But on the
next day, he came to me and said that my paper was also chosen to be presented in the said event.
Mixed feelings I felt at that time, but I said to myself, “Yes, I’ll go and attend the International
Research Conference.”

The 2nd International Multidisciplinary Research Conference with the theme, “Advancing
Globalization Through Research”, was initiated by Leyte Normal University headed by their University
President, Dr. Jude Duarte and Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Ma. Victoria Naboya.
They came up with this conference to highlight research outputs about the trend in the field of
education and other disciplines in the global arena. Indeed, there were participants who provided an
avenue to exchange and share ideas to disseminate research outputs and provide opportunities to
grow their network and build mutual collaborations and partnership with local and ASEAN neighbors.

Our Research Coordinator is truly very supportive to our twin mighty institutions most
especially to the faculty members of these twin institutions when it comes to researches. He supports
anyone who comes to him and asks for his assistance. Truly, maybe without his passion on research
and compassion in helping his other colleagues, there would be no quality standard output
researches that our twin institutions would have. I believe also that through him our schools would
become the center of excellence when it comes to research. Since Research per se is the back bone
of any academic institutions that needed to be given much attention aside from other components of
a certain institution.

Through the 2nd International Multidisciplinary Research Conference, it helped me a lot to

know and to learn other discipline and research thrust in each respective field of expertise. I spent
time to listen what the plenary sessions were about and to decide whether they were interesting for
me. But what made it more interesting are the breakout sessions in the afternoon of the first day and
the second day because the topics were very much interested especially with the track that I sat and
presented my research, Tourism, Hospitality and Management. The presentations from the
researchers gave me hints on what areas need are researchable and where to look for data for some
research, and the discussions could be complemented by approaching the presenters directly after
the session to ask for more detailed information. However, I got fever for a one whole night and
thankfully I got better on the next day when I have to present my paper in one of the plenary
sessions. The title of my study is “English Language Pedagogy of the International School of Asia and
the Pacific.” Thank God, I know I was able to deliver and to present my paper with the best that I
could to the session judges.

With the kind of experienced I had in Leyte Normal University, I could say that I need to really
plan and think carefully the study I need to conduct next time so that my paper could also be merited
like other researches I have witnessed in the 2nd International Multidisciplinary Research Conference.

Once again, I thank our Dear Lord God for giving me the chance to be part of this endeavor,
second to our Research Coordinator-Mr. Ryan Fontanilla, and lastly to the Administrators of MCNP &
ISAP. God bless us all!
