INTRODUCTION

On-the-job Training is part of a college curriculum that aims to train and orient
students about the work and their future career. It is a type of skill development where a
worker learns how to do the work through hands-on experience. On the Job Training is
one method by which students are exposed with different work situation designed to give
students an opportunity to experience and a chance to apply the theories and computation
that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students to acquire relevant
knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting.
OJT is very important not only to teach students regarding their chosen career but
also to show students the reality about working. The students will be exposed to the actual
work related to the course that they are taking. It also allows those with no experience to
work and to learn at the same time. On-the-Job Training helps the trainee to learn more
about his chosen field and practice what he has learned from the school. It helps in the
building up of the trainee’s competence. Of course, when a students is competent enough,
he will be able to do things successfully and. This training develops one’s professionalism
in dealing with people. After the training, the trainee will be able to handle situations
properly and he’ll be able to know how to socialize well with his colleagues Having a
proper On-the-Job Training helps in the preparation of future professionals for their future
jobs. What the students learned in their On-the-Job Training, even the little things, can be
applied when they are already working. Students will be trained not only academically but
socially as well. The way they work and communicate with others will not be a problem for
them anymore. It also gives the trainee the chance to immerse himself in his chosen field
and experience and learn the skills necessary to the industry he is interested in. Working
with experienced staff, one will be able to observe how the job is done properly.
Aside from work experience, On-the-Job Training allows the trainee to get
acquainted with the real professionals and to meet people having different positions in the
company, either high or low. The trainee will be able to know how to adjust to other
people’s personalities and attitudes. On-the-Job Training requires effort and seriousness. A
trainee should take the OJT seriously as it can be a powerful tool for a person in preparing
for the next chapter of life as a professional. It can possibly be a source of
recommendation when they take that big lift from being students to career professionals
someday.

WEEK 1

Norsu Bais Library Campus II– this is the office where I was assigned to conduct my
On-the-Job Training. On my first day of training, I was very excited and somewhat nervous
because of the new environment and the new people surrounding me. I didn’t have any
idea of what kind of people they are and it made me adjust myself with their personalities
and attitudes. I spent it with determination to work hard, for me to finish all the task that
was assigned to me by my boss. It was my duties and responsibilities to work with no
hesitation to provides the quality of work to impress the people around inside the company
in a professional way.

My first week was really a good start and I was motivated to perform excellently
because of what I have already accomplished and because of my Training Manager who is
very accommodating and kind to me and to my co-interns.

files they requires in library given by Ms. Ana Mae Gorneo staff in Norsu Library Bais

update the System Since I was afraid of her because the way she’s talking, she’s very strict
I'm my eyes but if you know her she very approachable person nice person I was
challenged and there are times for me to think negative because of lacking confidence. But
then I successfully address it by the way of having determination in doing my task and
doing what is correct by following the instruction carefully.

This week 5 during my training I gain learning on how to develop self- confidence.
Also the success in doing the entire task successfully that improves my skills. That makes

Week 7

In week 7 On the Job Training As day passes by, I finished more PDS. It’s what
made my office hours busy. I find myself not productive for the whole weeks. Good thing, I
completely updated the whole entries of NORSU LIBRARY BAIS CAMPUS 2- I keep on
encoding in the FO3 documents by this time, I started to include updating the work
experience that I never did before. At first it was so confusing

My Seventh Week I used to encode ten PDS of the assigned office each day. After
updating data sheet. I submitted them right away for the rechecking. As a beginner,
committed some mistakes. She said that I should be more careful next time. I was opened
to learn new concepts and ideas. Then, I was able to make tally based on the service
record.
We logged our time-in everyday and went to our designated division.

Week 10

This is my tenth week of my OJT at NORSU LIBRARY BAIS CAMPUS II, as usual
same as our last week, everything is so normal. Assisting student taking entrance exam
observing them. I’m comfortable of my work because everything is well. Although there are
times that I’m really tired but still it’s not a reason to stop from doing my work because
there’s these vibes that makes me to do my work. I’m challenging myself always to see
things through in our office environment and our task to learn some techniques for the
following weeks.
LEARNINGS

I am FABURADA RHEA MAE R. a fourth year student taking Bachelor of Science in

Computer Science. As I make my way to 2nd semester of my last year in college, I am
required to take an On-the-Job Training in a host training establishment for preparation in
working in real world after school and also to comply our needs in our on-going thesis
(system). I am interning NORSU LIBRARY BAIS CAMPUS II
But as time goes by, I started to loosen up as I am enjoying their company.

My experiences and learning importantly during my training, I’ve learned on how to

use the system of that is very useful for them to process daily task, to make work faster.
I’ve learn a lot also in PC assembly that helps my skills improve.

My experience with the people around me is that, I’ve encountered different attitudes
of every employee in the company. Some are very kind and friendly to me and some are
kind too but very strict. But despite of that, I can manage to deal with them in a nice way
or in a professional way where the best attitude than I can have.
The training we had in the Norsu Bais Library Campus 2 Office we have many
experiences each day. We exposed in the actual work in Real-State office, became familiar
with the works in the office and we learned how to use equipment that are usually used in
the office. Aside from those things, we also learned to be more sociable and to adjust our
self in the environment where we are working at and who we are working with.
In our more than two months stay there, we learned many things not only those
things that are related to our course but also the things that molded us into the person we
are right now. As we were working as a trainee at Norsu Bais Library Campus 2, We are
learned to become a hard-working person. The time to finish the task assigned to me is
important, but it is also important that I should do it correctly. My advice to those who will
take their practicum in the near future is to have the willingness to work with determination
without hesitations. It’s good to have their listening and Communication skills, Technical
Skills, Team working skills to have a successful result of work and have trust in yourself to
improve self-confidence.

C O N C LU S I O N

Nothing beats experience as the perfect learning tool. This On-the- Job Training
served as my stepping stone to pursue my dream to be a Computer Science/IT Programmer
someday. This training gave me an inspiration to be more serious and focused in studying.
I was encouraged to do more efforts in my studies. Since I was given some ideas about the
work of a data analyst in the company where I conducted my training, I am inspired to be
like them someday.
Despite the short period of my training, it was still a very meaningful one. The
training enriched my confidence created a foundation of being a good employee someday.
It caused a very huge effect to me as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Student. I
was really renewed. I learned to be diplomatic in both action and words.
This training made me realize that it is really good to know what you’re doing, and to
love it. As a student, what I can do for now is to learn whatever I can in school, be
inspired, love the path I am taking, and do my best in everything I do, with a positive
outlook in mind. I realized that I should be more focused in school and do everything
heartily and with all that I can.
It is also very warm to the heart to know that you have accomplished something and
even warmer when there are people who are so proud of what you have done and I felt
this feeling during my On- the-Job Training. It inspired me to be more determined and
competitive in everything that I do in my daily life as a student today and as a professional
someday.
My On-the-Job Training is very helpful and will be very helpful to me as I continue to
take my journey as a fourth-year student in the field of Computer Science. It really gave me
a taste of the real world – a glimpse of what lies ahead after I graduate.
