I. Project Title: “Fun with Books Free Little Library” A School Reading Enhancement-
Initiative

II. Background and Rationale:

Republic Act 10533 otherwise known as Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013
provides for the foundation to meet the basic learning need of every Filipino learner. Such
can be achieved by providing learning resources, facilities and opportunities for each learning
program being supported by the said education act.
Pursuant to Deped Order No. 76 s. 2011 re: National Adoption and Implementation of
Learning Resources Management and Development System (LRMDS), establishment of a
School Learning Resource Center (SLRC) is a facility within the school which provides
access to varied learning resources which supplements classroom learning processes and
expands learners’ education experience.
In response to this, Bambang Central School SPED Center managed to put-up a
Learning Resource Center however it could not accommodate all the learners due to the
limited space since the center shares the building with the office of the school principal.
To address the need of not being accommodated at the SLRC and in support to
providing other learning resources, the proponent thought of coming up with a project Fun
with Books-Roving Library. This project also aims to develop love for reading by providing
easier access to reading materials where learners are encouraged to pursue their individual
interest through reading.

III. Objectives and expected outcomes

The project aims to create a roving library in school. It specifically aims to:
1. Create a possibility of bringing books nearer to Bambang Central School children
for them to develop love for reading
2. develop the culture of reading among the children in school
3. effectively contribute in the “Every Child a Reader Program”.
4. build strong linkages with other stakeholders for book acquisition
5. develop the sense of ownership and responsibility among stakeholders.

IV. target Beneficiaries

The target beneficiaries of the proposed roving library are the 956 pupils and 32
faculties of BCSSC. This could also be extended to the parents and visitors who are inside the
school premises.

IV. Project Description

Fun with Books Little Free Library will be crafted to bring books nearer to the
learners in the school compound during free hours and lunch break. This will be stationed
where pupils eat and rest. This little library contains varied learning and reading materials
which children can read. This aims to develop love for reading and create a culture of reading
among school children.
