Illustrations may differ slightly from the actual vehicle being serviced. However, key
components addressed in this information are represented as accurately as possible.

All threaded fasteners that do not have a tightening torque specification in the information are
tightened to a standard torque. Standard torques are available in the following specification.➠ 
Standard tightening torques

DANGER

The vehicle can be set in motion if appropriate safety precautions have not been taken.

▶ Before starting the engine, place the gear lever in neutral and apply the parking brake.

CAUTION
Heat shield
The sound baffle is also a heat shield to prevent hot air from reaching surrounding components.

▶ Always reinstall the heat shield/sound baffle after repair. Inspect for damage and replace if
necessary.

1 Perform this procedure when the condition below is met.

Conditions
● If the vehicle has an alarm.

▶ Set the key in position II.

▶ Hold down the button (1).

▶ Press the button (2).

Note
Check that the LED lamp for alarm status illuminates and shines constantly, which indicates
service mode.

2 Perform this procedure when the condition below is met.

● Activate the workshop mode ‘Hibernate’.

▶ Remove the key from the starter switch (1).

▶ Press the button for the warning flashers (2).

▶ Press and hold down the warning flasher button (3).

Conditions
● Hold in the button for at least 5 seconds.

Tech data

If the process was successful: The courtesy light and interior light
are off when the door is opened.

▶ Wait for at least 30 seconds (4).

▶ Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal (5).

3 Lock the roof spoiler.

4 Place the gear lever in neutral.

5 Apply the parking brake.

6 Exit the cab.

Note
Ensure that all the doors are closed.

7 Open the front cover.

WARNING
Risk of serious injury.
A cab that is not tilted to the end position constitutes a safety risk.

▶ Always tilt the cab to the end position. Never perform any work under the cab before it has been
tilted to the end position.

CAUTION
Risk of material damage.
Damage may occur to the cab.

▶ Make sure that there is adequate space in front of the vehicle before tilting the cab.

8 Tilt the cab forward.

9 Remove the sound baffle.

10 Disconnect the connector.

11 Remove the cable.

14 Remove the pipes.

15 Remove the screws and the spacers.

16 Remove the valve.

17 Clean the contact surfaces.

18 Install the gaskets.

19 Install the valve.

20 Apply assembly compound to the screws.

21 Install the screws and spacers.

22 Torque tighten the screws.

Tightening torque

EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve, 1. 25 ±4 Nm


screw
2. 52 ±4 Nm

3. Loosen the screws.

≈ 90°

4. 25 ±4 Nm

5. 52 ±4 Nm

23 Install the O-rings.

Note
Use new parts.

DANGER

Connections that are not tightened in accordance with specified tightening torques may cause
leakage.

▶ Tighten connections according to service information.

24 Install the pipes.

Note
Respect the positions.

25 Install the screws.

26 Torque tighten the screws.

Tightening torque

Oil pipe, screws 24 ±4 Nm

27 Install the cable.

29 Install the cable ties.

30 Connect the cable to the negative terminal (1).

31 Apply protectant to battery terminals and cable terminals.

Note
Use recommended anti-corrosion spray.

32 Insert the key (2).

35 Place the gear lever in neutral.

37 Check the repair for leakage.

38 Install the sound baffle.
