STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

MOTOR CURRENT SIGNATURE ANALYSIS

TOOLS

1. MCSA analyzer using CSI 2130 dual channel with advanced analysis program (MCSA).
2. Sensor using clamp ampere.
3. Communication cable to connect analyzer and laptop.
4. Sensor cable to connect clamp and analyzer.
5. Laptop with AMS 4.9 or higher.

INITIATION

Discussion between MCSA engineer and user to determine the scope of work of the measurement and
analysis:

1. Safety induction (General safety induction, muster point, fire drill).

2. Measurement type and point.
3. List of equipment, data (specification) and location.
4. Schedule (data acquisition, equipment operation and changeover, report).
5. Report format (field and final).

PERSONAL

1. MCSA Engineer 1 person

2. Electrical technician 1 person
3. Operator 1 person

ROUTE PREPARATION

1. Build database, consist of location and equipment data.

2. Build route.
3. Connect analyzer to laptop.
4. Sent route to analyzer.
5. Function test. (make sure the analyzer working properly with the correct route)

ADMINISTRATION

1. Make work permit and discuss with maintenance spv, operation spv, safety spv.
2. Joint safety briefing at the morning before conducting measurement.

PREPARATION

1. Engineer must wear complete PPE.

2. Prepare analyzer
a. Make sure analyzer battery fully recharged
b. Connect cable with analyzer and sensor.
c. Function test. (make sure the analyzer working properly with the correct route)

DATA AQUISITION

1. Heading to the certain equipment in the schedule. Make sure equipment is in the desired
operation state.
2. Visual inspection to overview equipment condition
a. Abnormally, such as loud noise, fluid leak, heat.
b. Danger, if find near miss condition, report immediately.
c. If find high abnormally level, aboard the measurement and report immediately.
3. Open the terminal box cover.
4. Place the clamp to the power cable.
a. Make sure using clamp size that bigger then cable size.
b. Make sure that the clamp size is fit in to the terminal box.
5. Switch ON the analyzer, go to the equipment route, press ENTER to begin data acquisition. The
data will be saved automatically.
6. Quick review on the measured data. If the data misdoubt, repeat the data acquisition.
7. Switch OFF the analyzer.
8. Close terminal box cover.
9. Housekeeping.

ANALYSIS

1. Switch ON laptop and analyzer. Connect communication cable between two.

2. Open AMS 4.9.
3. Download the measurement data form analyzer.
4. Open Analyze tab, then the certain data.
5. Build field report.
6. Read the data, spectrum, and recommendation from the program.
7. Read the spectrum, calculate the line frequency and side band, calculate the result, compare
with standard.
8. Build final report.
