Okowa Inspects Storm Drainage Projects

Football Award
On Tuesday, June 11th, the Delta State
Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was
conferred with the Nigerian Pitch Awards
honour of ‘Football Friendly Governor of the
Year (2018).’ The award was presented by
Amaju Pinnick, the President of the Nigerian
Football Association.

Okowa Congratulates
New National
Assembly Leadership
On Tuesday, June 11th, the Delta State Governor, Senator
Ifeanyi Okowa, congratulated newly elected Presiding Officers
and members of the 9th National Assembly on their successful
inauguration.

The Governor congratulated Senator Ahmed Lawan, Senator


Ovie Omo-Agege on their election as President of the Senate
and Deputy President of the Senate respectively. He also
congratulated Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and Hon. Idris Ahmed
Wase on their emergence as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of
the House of Representatives.

"On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I


congratulate you all on your emergence as leaders of the
National Assembly. It is my prayer and that of all Nigerians that
God grant you all the knowledge and wisdom to pilot the affairs
of the 9th National Assembly to the admiration and satisfaction
of Nigerians,” the Governor said.

Journalists
On Thursday, June 13th, the Delta State
Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa held
a meeting with Officals of the State Chapter
of National Association of Women
Journalists (NAWOJ) and the EXCO of the
State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists
(NUJ) at the Government House in Asaba.

Okowa Hails Delta-born
Sprinter Oduduru on
United State’s Athletics
Success
On Friday June 14th, the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi
Okowa, congratulated Delta born, Nigerian sprinter, Divine Oduduru
on his emergence as the National Collegiate Athletic Association
(NCAA) Male Athlete of the Year in the United States of America. 

In tweets on his personal @GovIfeanyiOkowa handle, the Governor


said:

“All of us in Delta State are super proud of Divine Oduduru on his


emergence as the United States National Collegiate Athletic
Association’s (NCAA) Male Athlete of the year and his nomination
for the Bow Man Award, the highest award in the U.S for Collegiate
Athletes.

“Divine, was a student of West End College, Asaba. He was


discovered at the Awoture Eleyae Junior Athletics Competition in
Delta State before travelling on scholarship to Texas Tech University.
Since then, he has excelled in the 200m Indoor and the 100m and
200m Outdoor events,” Governor Okowa said.

#FathersDay: Okowa Urges Parents


To Build Better Homes
On Sunday, June 16th, in celebration of
#FathersDay, the Delta State Governor, Sen.
Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, urged Nigerians to always
work to build better homes and communities.

Alongside his wife H.E Dame Edith Okowa, the


Governor attended the Fathers Day
Thanksgiving Service at St. Peter's Anglican
Church, Boji Boji Owa, Ika North-East LGA in
Delta State.

“As we celebrate #FathersDay, we need to


reflect on the role of fathers. Fathers help to
build better homes and communities by
instilling discipline in children, which creates a
better society for all,” Governor Okowa said.
