Today I am going to talk about health wich is one of the options of IB diploma programm.

In
the picture That I’ve been provided I can see a Boy that is eating some junk foods while He is
watching the TV. Also, He is sitting on an Armchair and If we can see very well he is fat. So, the
caption of the picture says: “You are what you eat”. From my point of view I think that is true
because of two reasons.

First of all, Our bodies are composed primarily of the food and drinks we put in our mouths.
For example if we eat a lot of junk foods and soda our body will be affected. Problably we wil
suffer of Heart diseasses. As Scott Christ says:” If you nourish your body with the right ‘fuel’, it
will perform better. If you eat a lot of junk food and drink a lot of soda, your health will suffer”.
So, we have to eat right to be healthy. We are basically food and drinks and that´s why we
have to be more concient of how could affect to our organism a food or drink.

Secondly we can assure that the foods and drinks you put in your body have a direct effect on
your health and well-being. One of the study authors, Albertha J.M. Walhout, PhD, stated that:
“A small amount of a ‘healthy’ food in an otherwise unhealthy diet could elicit a beneficial
change in gene expression that could have profound physiological effects.”. As Walhout says
we have to think how a small amount of healthy food can make a significative change in your
body.

As Lauri Reuter says: “Food is a very powerful way to express our values and our social status”.
So if we eat foods with a lot of content of proteins and vitamins we can see that we are
practising good values. Food can change everithing in a person and even their way of thinking.
The slogan “Tell me what you and I will tell who you are” sums up the
