Topic: People do many different things to stay healthy. What do you do for good health?

Use
specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Maintaining our health is one of the most effective ways of ensuring that we live a long and
happy life. I do many things in order to stay fit, but the most important is maintaining a healthy
diet. There are two reasons why I think this is critically important, which I will explore in the
following essay.

To begin with, eating healthy food prevents obesity, which is the cause of many very
serious illnesses. Obesity is debilitating all by itself, but it also causes patients to suffer from a
variety of other illnesses, including diabetes, arthritis and heart disease. It is important to be
aware of this connection when making decisions about the food which we eat. My eldest cousin
is a compelling example of this. While my cousin maintained a healthy weight throughout high
school and university (despite eating a lot of unhealthy snacks and junk food), when he entered
adulthood his metabolism changed and he began to rapidly gain weight. My cousin is not a
particularly self-conscious individual and was never bothered by how his weight gain affected his
appearance, so he continued to eat an unhealthy diet. However, he was eventually diagnosed
with adult-onset diabetes which has had a profound effect on his quality of life. As a result, he
regrets not being more careful about his dietary choices.

Secondly, eating healthy food gives me a lot of energy, which keeps me effective in my
personal and professional pursuits. It is no secret that people who lack certain vitamins and
nutrients do not have the energy necessary to complete even simple tasks. I recall how when I
was a university student I often skipped meals because I was quite busy studying. As a result of
not eating proper meals, I started to suffer from fatigue and lethargy. My grades began to drop
because when it came time to write my tests I could barely keep my eyes open long enough to
answer the questions. Moreover, my assignments were poorly done because my fatigue made
me unable to keep up with deadlines. The following year I was a bit more diligent about making
healthy food choices and my grades quickly recovered.

In conclusion, the most important thing I do in order to stay healthy is maintain a nutritious
diet. This is because keeping a healthy diet prevents obesity and related diseases, and because it
gives me the energy to keep up with my academic and professional requirements.

Health is always a major concern for most people. And for good reason too, since whether we
are healthy or not greatly influences our quality of life. There are many steps we can take to
prevent both physical and mental health problems, such as doing sports, eating organic foods,
reading a lot, laughing, and being optimistic. As far as I am concerned, the best way to maintain
health is to pay attention to getting good nutrition and to do sports. I will explain my reasons in
detail in the following essay.

First, the expression "We are what we eat" explains perfectly that physical condition depends on
the quality of meals. One consequence of humans’ rapid population growth is the massive
increase in the amount of easily available, but poor quality food. We have engineered foods
which suit our lifestyles and preferences, but unfortunately these foods are not the best way to
nourish our bodies. Thankfully though, there are alternatives. I can speak from my own
experience here since I usually eat homemade food, large amounts of fruits and vegetables,
soups and fish as well as all kind of seeds and sugar-free cereals. My day starts with yogurt and
avocado, at lunch I prefer eating oats combined with honey, raw almonds and cranberries and
for dinner I have a soup, fish, chicken or low-fat meat. This does not mean that I never eat less
healthy food at all, I occasionally indulge in a pizza, lasagna, or some dessert, however I make
sure not to make a habit of it. What I want to say is, as long as there is a balance between these
choices, people can still maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Second, sports is undoubtedly a good way to ensure that you have a long life. It strengthens the
resistance of THE body against heart disease and obesity, both of which are serious physical
problems. In addition, the individuals who do sport regularly look younger. For instance, when I
was a teenager I did not like doing sports. I have never been fat, but when I started doing sports I
realized that the shape of my body became better, my skin was nicer and softer. Moreover,
when I did my blood tests, because of the positive results, the doctor assumed that I was
practicing sports and that my nutrition was right. This made me understand that I was on the
right path to a long and healthy life.

To summarize, eating healthy and doing sports are the main means for maintaining a long-term,
healthy life. These two options are easily achievable for most people who really care about
having a sustainable life.
