SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
1. Qualifying persons should submit five(5) copies of their application letters duly signed together
with certified photocopies of their transcripts, certificates, five(5) recent passport photographs
and latest copy of their curriculum vitae giving full details of the applicants education, work
experience and naming three referees with their postal addresses and day time phone contact.
The application should be put in a sealed envelope and the job applied for indicated on the
envelope. Applicants must make sure that at least two referees have forwarded recommendation
letters concerning their application to the University Secretary before the closing date of this
advertisement.

o PhD or Master of Medicine degree (General Surgery) or its equivalent from a recognized
University or Institution.

o Applicants must be registered with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council.
o Applicants should have a clinical and teaching experience of not less than (3) years at
specialist level.
o At least one publication in peer reviewed journal.
o Applicants should show demonstrable qualities of leadership and integrity.

ADMINISTRATION
Job Title: Senior Quality Assurance Officer (1 Post)
Age Limit: 35-45 years

Report to:
Purpose of the Job: To ensure effective quality assurance management process in the
University.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Design, develop and implement quality assurance and enhancement policies, strategies
and systems, for both internal and collaborative provision, with an on-going appraisal of
their fitness.
o Produce and provide reports and other forms of assurance for the Academic Registrar and
the Senate.
o Maintain appropriate and accessible archives of quality assurance documentation.
o Manage the publication of quality- and course-related information on the university
(including course specifications), to ensure clear, consistent, accessible and accurate
information for staff, students and applicants that complies with relevant statutory
requirements.
o Lead and advise management and staff on developments within the fields of quality
assurance and enhancement.
o Liaise with academic managers to ensure the embedding of knowledge about, and
implementation of, quality assurance activities in the academic faculties.
o Work authoritatively and collaboratively with academic staff in the undertaking of their
quality assurance responsibilities.
o Initiate, build and coordinate networks around quality assurance and enhancement within
Lira University.
o Liaise with and remain informed of developments in the quality assurance activities of
other institutions within Uganda.
o Develop and maintain links with appropriate external agencies, networks and other higher
education institutions.
o Liaise with academics and non-academic staff concerning quality assurance issues and
activity.
o Attend relevant meetings, conferences and networks as appropriate, and to represent the
university where applicable.

o Bachelor’s degree in any field from a recognized institution
o Postgraduate diploma in management related field will be an added advantage
o At least six (6) years’ experience in a position of quality assurance from reputable
organization or institution
o Extensive experience of working independently in a quality assurance or academic
registry environment is essential

o Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science.
o At least three (3) years’ experience in library management from a reputable University,
Institution of higher Education or in an organization specialized in information
management.
o Membership of ULIA is an added advantage.
o Experience in academic library preferably medical is added advantage
