The Ice Wastes

The north of the continent is an icy waste land and the giant ranges of mountains that mark its southern extent, the Icefinger
Mountains and the Freezeblood Mountains, also mark the northern most extent of recognisable civilisation. These ranges shelter the
north of the continent from the cold winds of the Frozen Plateau which stretch even further north. Despite the apparent desolation of
the area it is inhabited by savage tribes of Orcs and Goblins, many creatures and beings that choose to leave solitary existences such
as an occasional White Dragon or Storm Giant. It is in the Icefinger Mountains that the mysterious Snow Witch, Shareella, makes
her home.

The Flatlands
The Flatlands is the name given to a wide, open steppe land that extends between Old Allansia and the eastern reaches of the
Allansian Continent. It is home to many tribes of nomadic mounted barbarians. The Nomadic barbarians are dangerous enemies but
while they continue to fight amongst themselves they will remain a harmless foe. Throughout history they have attempted to launch
an assault on the numerous towers of the Trolltooth Pass, and each time Salamonis has protected the west.

The Desert of Skulls

South of the Southern Plain of the settled lands of Old Allansia, lies the Desert of Skulls is inhabited by snake people called the
Caarth. They dwell in stone citadels in the hottest most uninhabitable parts of the desert.

Salamonis
Salamonis is a solid and ancient city built before the War of the Wizards in north-west Allansia next to the Forest of Yore and at the
mouth of Trolltooth Pass. It is now considered a bastion of civilisation in a hard and unforgiving land, the city was founded as a
walled citadel at the eastern edge of the Kingdom of Allansia. The current king, Salamon LXII, is a great patron of learning, for
which the city is famed. The library of King Salamon LXII is famed the world over and the ancient Palace of Learning is the home
of the scholars, mages and wizards of the city. The city employs a large number of knights, led by Chadda Darkmane, which fight
almost continuous skirmishes to keep the orcs and goblins at bay, which spill in from the Trolltooth Pass. Despite the city's best
efforts numerous Orcs, Goblins and other enemies of Salamonis now overrun the nearby lands.

Fang
Fang is a city of no small wealth ruled over by a powerful Baron in the province of Chiang-Mai in northern Allansia. The city
always made a convenient stopover for river traders and passengers throughout most of the year and brought a steady source of
trade income to Fang. Fang began life hundreds of years of ago as a small town within the realm of mighty Goldoran. After the
collapse of that great nation, during the War of the Wizards, some of the old provinces began to re-establish themselves as
autonomous regions. One of those was Chiang-Mai, with Fang as its capital. Chiang-Mai's southern border is the River Kok itself,
with what people term Old Allansia starting on the other side of the river. To the north, the province is limited by the mighty
Icefinger Mountains. Fang has grown steadily from the trade that runs along the river. In only recent times, Fang was still
considered by most as a town rather than a city. The river has always brought a steady source of trade income to Fang, with ships
and barges passing up and down the River Kok from Zengis, twenty days upstream to the east, all the way to the ocean and its
coastal cities in the west. Also, the Horses bred in the surrounding province of Chiang-Mai have long been highly sought after, thus
the bi-annual Horse markets attracted people from all over northern Allansia.

Port Blacksand
Port Blacksand, also known as the City of Thieves, is a busy port and notorious den of thieves on the north-western coast of
Allansia, ruled over by the mysterious Lord Varek Azzur. It was built upon the ruins of a much larger ancient city called
Carsepolis. In around 121AC, the ruined docks of Carsepolis began to be used as shelter for pirates and brigands. It gradually
became a thriving community. In 252AC, the bold pirate captain Azzur stormed Blacksand, blockading it by sea with a pirate
armada, and assaulting the city walls with mercenaries. In 254AC, Lord Azzur's new palace, which to this day dominates the Port
Blacksand skyline, was completed, and since then he has rarely left it. The Blacksand City Guard were formed from the remnants of
the city militia and strengthened by the inclusion of Ogres and Bugbears who are loyal to Azzur and ruthlessly impose his laws.

Anvil
Drinking establishments in Anvil include The Two Moons tavern and Hullgrim's Alehouse. At only two day's walk from Firetop
Mountain, the people of Anvil live in fear of the Warlock who is said to live within, and it is from Anvil that many foolish
adventurers have set off to enter the dungeon under that mountain.[3]

Kaad
Kaad is an old city, built long before the War of the Wizards, and one that has recently revived the worship of Ashra and Vuh, as the
result of successfully defending itself against the army of Sargon the Elimite, with the help of the local Tanglewood Goblin tribe
and the people of Ekaad, who were the city's original inhabitants. It had previously suffered the ravages of Sargon's hate when he
unleashed a virulent plague upon it, though this was halted by Gereth Yaztromo before it could claim the lives of the entire
populace.

Chalice
Chalice is a small town lying on the banks of Silver River at the base of Moonstone Hills. It has grown from being merely a cluster
of cabins and huts to its present size mainly because it became an important trading centre for prospectors seeking gold in the hills.
It was the first safe haven for merchants who had travelled west from the Flatlands on their way to Silverton. In Chalice they could
rest and do business without fear of attack. There are plenty of inns and places of entertainment, and it used to be among the most
boisterous towns of Allansia.

Mirewater
Mirewater is a small Dwarf town (or village) in northern Allansia which lies on the southern bank of the Red River, between
Stonebridge and the coast. It is "inhabited by a race of evil Dwarfs who are in permanent conflict with the Dwarfs of Stonebridge".
Unexpected visitors to Mirewater may be unwelcome and may be denied access by crossbow-wielding Dwarf guards. Notable
residents of Mirewater include Trumble, the trader Ganga, and Calla Bey. Trumble is perhaps characteristic of the residents of
Mirewater in his hatred for Stonebridge and Ganga of Mirewater, given his dealings with the witch-village of Dree, is a rather
unsavoury character.

Shazâar
Shazâar is the city of the Southern Plain of Allansia, sometimes referred to as an oasis town. It is famed for its beautiful
appearance and the bizarre nature of its inhabitants have led to it also being known as the "City of Madness". Shazâar’s reputation
for the bizarre nature of its inhabitants is said to date back to its religious origins. The main god worshipped in the city is, and has
been for a long time, Logaan, Lord of the Tricksters.

Silverton
Silverton is a town in north-west Allansia, some fifty miles east-south-east of Port Blacksand, at a crossroads in the trading routes of
the region. The town has prospered as a result of the trade in herbs, spices, silks, metal ware and foodstuffs which pass through it,
and its wealth is apparent in the ornate buildings and well-dressed people which characterise the town. A notable tavern (probably
more an inn than a tavern) is The Old Toad.

Coven
Coven is a village in Allansia, where the Windward Plain to the west meets Trolltooth Pass the east. To the north lies the village of
Dree, on the Spider River. The residents of Coven not only fear the Hag-Witches of Dree, practitioners of Marrangha, but in recent
years the necromancer Zharradan Marr has tightened his grip on the area, building a dungeon complex under the village, and setting
up his Testing Grounds for would-be recruits to his army, in neighbouring Knot Oak Wood. The village has a medicine man and
provisions shop, with peasants living nearby.
