that, kindly get the emoticons I placed at the
back of your chairs to identify your group.
Those who got the same emoticon, stay

clues. The group who gets or raises the
correct answer will get a point and the group
who got the most number of points will be
the winner. Is that clear?

Yes sir.

ALI’S STORY

Ali’s dream is to study abroad. To achieve his goal is not easy. He had many things to do.
Firstly, he needed to improve his English so he could take the International English Language
Testing System (IELTS) test. Unfortunately, Ali liked learning all subjects except to learn
English. So, this would not be much fun for him. His friend recommended attending a school
close to his house. Ali went to look and from what he could see, it seemed to be a good school.
He didn’t delay to register for the course. He managed to get a slot for the course because they
had a special price to offer. This was good because he could not afford to pay too much.

Studying

To read is not his usual activity. He had never read much in his life and he knew he was weak
in this area, so he practiced to read as much as he could. His weakness, to write, is what he
practiced for. So, he planned to practice writing as many essays as possible. His teachers
agreed to check these for him. As it turned out, Ali finally enjoyed to study English. Finally,
his hobby now is to study English.

Taking the test

Then came the time for Ali to take the test. He couldn’t stop worrying before the test. He was
about to take the speaking test but his teacher had recommended to do the task 2 first in
writing so he followed the instructions. He finished to write his task 2 after exactly 40 minutes
and then went on to task 1. The speaking test seemed going quite well even though he was
nervous.

The result

Then came the time for the result. He had expected to get a band 5.5 but he was surprised to
find out that he had been given a band 6. So, Ali could now go and study abroad. His
ambition, to study abroad, will now turn into reality.
