General:
I have been involved in the geothermal industry since 1978 and am presently employed by Chevron
Geothermal Philippines Holdings, Inc. (CGPHI), providing technical assistance for managing the
geothermal resources at Tiwi and Mak-Ban, Republic of the Philippines, which have an installed baseload
capacity of 636MW. I also provide assistance to Chevron’s geothermal assets in Indonesia (Salak and
Darajat) on an as needed basis.

Prior to joining CGPHI, I was employed by geothermal consulting companies and provided assistance to
numerous geothermal projects. The scope of the work conducted varied from short review or training
missions to full resource assessments, including numerical simulation modelling. The projects were also
located in many countries, including New Zealand, USA, Japan, Republic of the Philippines, Canada,
Guatemala, Italy, Portugal (Azores), Mexico, Indonesia, Kenya, China (Tibet), Costa Rica, Papua New
Guinea, Iran, Nicaragua, Russia (Kamchatka) and Chile.

My role with Unocal and Chevron has been to provide technical expertise and oversight on the work being
carried out by the Reservoir Engineering Section of the Resource Management Department. In summary,
the role includes:

 Providing training to trainee (“Horizon”) engineers within the section, including presentation of formal
courses, mentoring on an individual basis and assisting in formulating training programs to ensure

that the engineers are building the necessary expertise to progress their careers as engineers within
Chevron Corporation;
 Reviewing work being undertaken within the section and providing technical direction;
 Identifying technology projects that will improve resource monitoring and management and
championing their implementation;
 Leading numerical modelling efforts at the two assets (Tiwi and Mak-Ban) to improve our ability to
forecast future reservoir behavior, including integrated modelling of both the reservoir and surface
facilities;
 Assisting process and project teams at the two assets to reach their goals regarding generation and
production by providing technical direction, either as a member of the Decision Review Board or as a
resource to the team;
 Champion various Chevron processes to improve base business and management of the resources
within CGPHI;
 Providing input to on-going drilling programs regarding well design issues, decision making at critical
times during drilling and testing programs to be conducted at well completion;
 Provide assistance to Chevron’s geothermal assets in Indonesia on an as-needed basis.

 Constructed a numerical simulation model of the Rotokawa geothermal resource, including initial
state matching, assessing historical field performance data and forecasting the effect of possible
expansion options, including make-up well requirements (2002).

Mokai Geothermal Project, New Zealand

Project Manager
 Due-diligence adviser to Westpac for the development of the Mokai geothermal field by Tuaropaki
Power Company. Review of resource, development and engineering aspects of the project,
participation in negotiations related to project contracts and overview of drilling, testing, construction
and commissioning activities. Continuing review role during operation (1997 - 2002).

 Constructed a numerical simulation model of the Mokai geothermal resource for assessing present

part of an initial scoping study and a later due-diligence report on the assets of Contact Energy. The
work was undertaken to provide an independent review of asset information to potential investors in
Contact Energy (1998-99).

Lihir Island Gold Project

 Review of geothermal issues related to the Lihir Gold Project, Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea, and
providing assistance with geothermal issues, including drilling, design of well testing equipment,
monitoring of the geothermal system response to dewatering and numerical modelling (1998-99).
 Followed on from previous significant involvement in the project that included design of well testing
programs, analysis of well test data, conceptual and numerical simulation modelling and assisting in

During this time, there was a significant expansion in the US geothermal industry due to the availability of
incentives for renewables, particularly in California. GeothermEx was involved in nearly all of the
geothermal developments that occurred, either as a consultant to the financial institutions or the project
proponents. These projects generally required multi-disciplinary resource assessment studies, including
reservoir engineering.

GeothermEx was also involved in overseas projects, mainly in Asia (Japan, Tibet and Indonesia) and
other parts of the America’s (Canada, Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica).

During this period I was involved in the planning and supervision of well test programs and analysis of
well test and/or production data from many geothermal fields, including:
