Cars, Planes & Trains Lesson Outline

Date: Day 3 – July 9, 2018


Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Room: TBD

9:00-10:00 AM
• Walk to Camp Room (5 min.)
• Students quietly fly or drive to our classroom.
• Students pick out “parking spots” (star squares or dance dots).
• Review M.A.T.E.R. Warm-up (10 min.)
• Make Silly Faces (corresponds to CARS emotions chart)
• Around the Racetrack (hip circles)
• Tire Touch (reach up & toe touch)
• Engine Sounds (lip trill, choo choo, bzzz, shhh)
• Run in Place (“Start your engines.”)
• Add in our Stretches (5-10 Minutes)
• Airplane (Arms extended, touch our right and left toes)
• Car (Lunges to the right and left)
• Boat (Feet extended in front stretching forward)
• Hot Air Balloon (Arms up on releve)
• Hot Air Balloon Deflates (Drop arms and hang down)

• Rev Up Dance Party (5 Minutes)

10:30 - 11:00

• Driving Practice to the Dance Dots


⁃ Car: Regular driving, in reverse, oil spill
• Red Light, Green Light, Yellow Light
⁃ Players start at the edge of the room, when they hear green light
they drive, yellow light they must go in slow mo and red light
means stop. If players do not follow instructions then they go
back to the starting line.
• Driving Practice to the Dance Dots
⁃ Repeating the earlier car movements, but this time with traffic light
instructions called out by instructor.
• Train Craft
⁃ Each student will get a square of colored paper to decorate and put
their name on. During snack break instructor will link all the
squares to make a giant train car with everyone’s name on it.

• Snack and Movie Break

11:00 - 12:00 AM
• Learn “I’m a Little Airplane” Song (20 Minutes)
⁃ Learn Lyrics
⁃ Learn Movements
⁃ Practice Lyrics and Movements together

• Perform “I’m a Little Airplane” Song and “Let’s Drive a Car” (10 Minutes)

• Cloud Jump (15-20 Minutes)
⁃ Students go outside and have to jump on clouds (Clouds drawn
outside on sidewalk with chalk with numbers in them) with
outstretched Airplane arms.

▪ Dumpster Dive (5-7 Minutes)

▪ Walk to Dismissal. (3-5 Minutes)
