The Toyota Motor Co. Ltd. was founded in 1937 as a branch of the Toyoda Automatic
Loom Works, which since 1926 was one of the leading manufacturers of sewing
machines.

In 1935 he produced his first car by recruiting engineers from the MG above, this car
was much like the Chrysler Airflow. Only two years later the company changed its
name to Toyota Motor Co. Ltd.

In 1947, Toyota launched its first sedan, the Model SA.

In 1950, Toyota, experiences his first and only strike.

In 1955, Toyota produced its first utility oriented to the domestic market, it is the Crown.

In 1957, two Coronas leave for the United States, and five years later, in 1962 and
passed the one million units. During this time the Toyota Corona competed fiercely with
their European rivals because of the wide variety of extras that incorporated.

Automobile production outside Japan began in 1959 in a small plant in Brazil, and
continued with a growing network of plants worldwide.

The successor to the Crown, the Corolla was the best selling car model in the world. In
1984 appeared the first sporty model that was very successful, called MR2.

A mid 80 car sales of low and mid range increased and placed third in sales, behind
GM and Ford.

In 1997 launches new Corolla and his career continues to this day even with new
models.

In August 1997, completed 60 years of the creation of Toyota Motor Corp. This
company, founded by Kiichiro Toyoda, Sakichi's son, has become a leading company
in its sector.

Today Toyota is third largest automaker in the world in unit sales and in net sales. It is
the largest Japanese car manufacturer, producing more than 4.5 million cars per year,
equivalent to a vehicle every six seconds.
