• According to the slide that I have read, I got the information about the differences between
approaches and methods, quantitative and qualitative approaches, also the strengths and
the weaknesses of both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Regarding to the slide
approache is starting point to view a particular problem. Meanwhile, according to (expert)
approach is, method is, .......................................................... so, I have an opinion that the
defferences between approach and method is
.................................................................................

• Quantitative Approach is an approach for testing objective theories by examining the

relationship among variables (Creswell, 2014, p.32).

• Qualitative Approach is an approach for exploring and understanding the meaning individual
or group ascribe to a social or human problem (Creswell, 2014, p.32).

• According to my opinion;

The Strengths of Quantitative Approach

• Simple numeric data.

• Data in the form of number.

• Larger sample sizes enable the conclusion to be generalized.

• Evaluation of the multiple data sets can be done at once and that too at a

faster pace and accurately.

• Data are more efficient, able to test hypotheses.

The Weaknesses of Quantitative Approach

• Miss contextual detail

• Quantitative research does not study things in a natural setting.

• A large sample of population must be studied, so it is expensive and

time-consuming.

The Strengths of Qualitative Approach

• Enables data in natural setting.

• Qualitative research has complex rich data.

• It will give reach information about respondents.

• Reveal complex phenomena embedded in local context.

The Weaknesses of Qualitative Approach

• Data gathering is often time-consuming

• Interpretation of results is usually biased

• Analysis of data takes longer than that in quantitative research

• Conclusions are not generalizable
