Concept paper

1. Our research problem is the relationship between cell phone utilization and study
habits of senior high school student in Saint Michael’s school of Padada.

2. The condition which gives rise to our research question are the following:

a. McNeal and Hooft (2006) found cell phones as important resources which
make teaching more relevant and meaningful thereby improving students literary and
numeracy skills.

b. azikiwe (1998) describes study habits as the way and manner a student plans
his or her private reading outside lecture hours in order to master a particular subject of
topic.

3. The ideal situation would have been:

a. students prefer to use cell phone than studying.

b. student prefers to do both cell phone utilization and study habits.

4. The possible reasons of discrepancy between 2 and 3 are:

a. students didn’t know the importance of the time management.

b. student lose focus on study.

5. The following intervention have been done to solve the problem, and the outcomes
were:

a. the school conducted orientation to the students about the time management.

b. the teachers prohibited the ceel phone usage during class hour.

c. conference with the students regarding the cell phone usage and study habits.
6. The following facts/finding have been reported in related studies about the problems:

a. javaid et al. (2011) conducted a study on university students and use this
splendid mobile technology in a better way by sharing helpful information with their
class fellows and teachers. They use the cell phones to share the helpful data with their
classmates; to confer dictionary and thesaurus for educational reasons.

b. thomton et al.(2005) conducted a study, the poll revealed that Japanese


university students use cell phones habitually for sending and receiving e-mail whereas
sometimes in their class.

7. The following question about the problem lowever, still remain unanswered:

a. what is the relationship between cell phone utilization and study habits?

b. what are the possible effects of cell phone utilization towards study habits?

c. what are the advantages and disadvantages of cellphone utilization towards
