Descriptive Text

Learning Journal

In this activity, I have learned to understand, apply, and compare the social functions,
text structures, and lexico-grammatical features of a number of descriptive text in regard to the
various contexts of situation. Moreover, I have learned how to apply this knowledge to engage in
social functions in producing descriptive text based on acceptable context of text structures and
correct lexico-grammatical features.

The key features of descriptive text includes identification or general statement and
description element. Identification introduces and identifies specific objects (a person, thing,
place, animal or event) intended to be described. Description describes the intended objects using
descriptive details or information about the objects’ characteristics, appearances, personality,
habits or qualities by using particular lexico-grammatical features.

What I like most about this activity is to read various types of descriptive texts that give
rich information about particular obejct in detail. Indeed, reading is most favourite activites I
have.

What I need to improve/learn more is an ability to analyze the text by considering the
structure and language feature.
