1. What is the mission/purpose of the organization that you will serve?

Kingfisher School of Business and Finance has three core values; excellence,
benevolence and courage. Excellence is the quality of being outstanding in all aspects.
Benevolence is the quality of being well meaning and courage is about being brave.
Information Sharing underpins integrated safeguarding and sharing of information
between people. The sharing of information in its purest form from credible sources
refrain from monopolizing information from one’s self. It will also lead to excellence by
gaining more knowledge for the students to excel academically and socially. In relation
to integrity, the information that will be disseminated by each of the students should be
relevant, timely and reliable in a way that this information has sources such as
professors, administration of the school, credible pages or books. With students sharing
reliable information to others rather than keeping it to themselves, the Kingfisher core
value benevolence is being exercised. Moreover, this project wants to instill in the
hearts of Kingfisher community the courage to reach out to their schoolmates.

2. Please list the primary population(s) served. (youth, seniors, children, homeless, etc.)

The main population of this project will be students of Kingfisher. The proponents
focused on the students of Kingfisher because the proponents like to uphold the
benevolence and courage to the students and to start breaking wall and to build
camaraderie with each other in order to feel like they are really important here at
Kingfisher. By starting this project inside the school campus, well informed and
organized distribution of knowledge and information can happen which will benefit all of
the students. The proponents are starting the population to students of Kingfisher and
hopefully when the first phase of the project becomes successful, it will become a
culture that will motivate other academic institutions to adopt.

3. What need would your service-learning class or student address?

Project Mag K-ISA (Kingfisher Information Sharing Association) generally addresses

the need of students to be informed on things that they should know to improve their
school performance. It addresses the need for having the initiative of each individual to
share reliable information they receive. There are certain issues that are raised by our
fellow students that involve information sharing: students who were not able to attend
their examinations because some schedule for examinations are very flexible and not all
students are able to control their time using their gadgets or the internet. Thus, making
them receive late information. There is also an issue raised wherein some blocks were
not able to access some test reviewers because they are not included in the subject
group chats, and if in an instance that they have receive the information, it is already too
late to read it or even scan it. These problems stems from the lack of initiative to share
the gotten information.

The proponents proposes this kind of project in order to promote each individual
being an agent of truth, verifying information before being disseminated to a number of
people especially that fake news continually grow and it is very hard to identify what is
true and what is not. In addition, it is for the students to be updated about academic
information. The Project Mag K-ISA promotes the advocacy of being responsible for the
information each individual receives and shares as well as having the initiative to share
information to others.
4. How will the project specifically address this need?

Project Mag K-ISA (Kingfisher Information Sharing Association) campaigns for a

need of sharing relevant, timely and reliable information by each student to their
schoolmates. It upholds exchange of information between students which is essential to
their academic needs.

The project will specifically promote the habit of verifying and critically examining
information they receive before disseminating it to others; information such as:1)
upcoming events, 2) exam schedules,3) cancellation of classes, 4) coverage of exam
and 5) learning materials.

This Project Mag K-ISA will serve as a bridge to every student for them to feel
empathy, care, and love for each other in a way of sharing. The proponents have
chosen the name Project Mag K-ISA because through information sharing, students are
being connected and united in the road to success.

5. List and describe the project objectives, related activities, and project outcomes.

Project Mag K-ISA (Kingfisher Information Sharing Association) has its different
purpose, activities and outcomes expected to further enhance the virtue of true
information dissemination. The objectives of the proposed project are dissemination,
guidance, encouragement, and further promote benevolence.

General Objectives

 Dissemination. Dissemination of true and reliable information acts as the main

purpose of the project.

Specific Objectives

 Guidance. Another objective is as guidance to educate and assist students.

 Encouragement. It will also serve as an encouragement to our Kingfisher
student to take part in our School community.
 Benevolence. Lastly, to promote benevolence through sharing and caring.

In every information received, there is a systematic process of verification and

dissemination which will be instilled to students presented in Fig. 1.1.
Fig 1.1

1. The information must come from a source. The source can be anyone who is
part of kingfisher community and is qualified and considered as moral agent.
Outer sources of information can also be entertained such as announcements
from the mayor or CHED.
2. After which, sources should be verified by checking if it is credible, timely, and
relevant.
3. After the verification, reliable information will be disseminated through information
sharing agent which is the student itself. Unreliable information should be
ignored.

Activities in this project are regarding the circulation of campaign of promoting the
need for sharing information between students while exercising integrity and
benevolence through the use of Facebook page. Agents of this information will not only
be the students but the entire Kingfisher community including faculty and staff.

Posters will also be posted about the campaign after getting the approval of the
higher authority. The poster is about spotting a fake news and the benefits of
information sharing as well as the proponent’s Facebook page. The proponents will also
conduct room to room campaign starting on May 26 and will advocate on Bobot’s circle
by performing jingle and discussing the campaign on May 27.

Infomercial about the importance of information sharing will also be done and posted
on social media. It is all about the story of a girl who shared a learning material to her
classmates and the result is they all passed the exam. This will be posted on May 28,
2019.

The Facebook page will be maintained by the proponents even after the summer
class. The proponents were divided into 7 groups with 3 members each who are in
charge in each day. The group chat of the proponents will be active for planning when it
comes to possible activities and promotions.

The proponents will also have a 10 – minute talk in the Freshmen Orientation
Training Symposium (FOTS) regarding the campaign which is about upholding integrity
and benevolence in sharing relevant, timely and reliable information between students
with the permission of the one in charge in FOTS. The talk will also include the
importance of sharing and experiences of the proponents about late information.
There will also be one person featured in the page and will also be posted on the
bulletin board per month; this person is the one who is the top sharer of information
through social media. The proponents can determine the person through the person’s
usage of official hash tags “#KFSharingiscaring” and “Mag-KISA”. This is to encourage
every student to have the initiative to share relevant, timely and reliable information to
their co-students.

In the first day of school, the proponents will conduct room to room talk to promote
the campaign and may perform the jingle about the campaign.

Expected outcomes of this project is the students will uphold integrity and will have
the initiative in sharing relevant, timely, reliable and essential information to their
schoolmates. Students will also learn how to verify trusted information and distinguish
fake news from legit ones. Moreover, benevolence, courage and excellence at
Kingfisher Community will be honed. Lastly, students will be updated about latest
information and improved performance in academe.

6. Is this project one time or ongoing?

Project Mag K-ISA is a proposed project which is on-going since our project is
mainly concerned on campaign about each individual upholding integrity and initiative in
sharing information to others. If this becomes successful, it will create a domino effect
which could last and be passed on to the successive batches. The project will be
passed on to the next batch with the representatives of PSALM in next academic year.
These representatives will be in charge for promoting the campaign in their batch and
will talk in the next FOTS just like what the proponents will do as well as pass the
project on the batch after them. This will make the campaign go on even after the
proponents had graduated.

7. What are your proposed service dates and hours?

The project will start campaigning on Monday, May 27, 2019 with its official
Facebook page named Project Mag K-ISA and will end on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
Every information received will be verified first before sharing on the said page for
validation. The room to room will be on Monday, 12:00 to 1:00 pm and 3:00- 4:00 pm
while the performance will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
