POV (PERSISTENCE OF VISION) DISPLAY

RATIONALE

Persistence of vision (POV) refers to the optical illusion that your eyes seem to retain an image
for a split second after the image has vanished from your view. Aristotle (384–322 BCE) noted
that the image of the sun remained in his vision after he stopped looking at it. In 19th century,
POV is used as an early cinema for entertainment and the basis of motion pictures like cartoons
and animations. Nowadays POV is used as a rotating display by swinging the device in circular
motion to create an illusion for it to display text or image by the performer to generate a more
appealing performance on stage. The POV device used by the performer has only one or two
displays programmed. On the other hand, stage lightings and LED screen are expensive. This
project is to combine the idea of the POV device used by performers and the LED screen
display. For such scenario that displaying a name on a LED screen is too common for us and also
expensive on the performance producer’s side. Therefore, this project came up to help
performers to cut their event props budget into half and reduced used space on the venue, and
also POV displays is new to our eyes when we see one we get thrilled while watching the
performances. Displaying their proudest name on stage as awesome as you can see while to do
it is cheap.
