QAQC Geologist (Code: EMEQGS)


Purpose of the role:
Coordinate and conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) programs on sample preparation
activities to produce reliable assay data and spreadsheet and to ensure all related activities performed
properly and to provide regular QAQC report to Vale Base Metal Qualified Person for QAQC as required
by Vale Base Metals Guidelines and Standards for Mineral Resource and Reserve Estimation and
Reporting and industrial standards.

Accountabilities:
 To conduct regular QAQC audit to exploration sample preparation, sample handling, drilling and
geological sampling to ensure its reliability and the compliance to Vale Base Metals Guidelines and
Standards for Mineral Resource and Reserve Estimation and Reporting and industrial standards.
 To conduct statistical analysis and evaluation of produced assay data to support mineral resources
estimation, mine plan, mine grade control, Mineral Resources Mineral Reserves (MRMR) report
and other assay data requirements to ensure its reliability according to provided corporate
standards and guidelines.
 Report control weaknesses identified on business processes to the responsible areas, request them
to submit action plans and implementation dates to address the issues.
 To control and monitor performances of primary and secondary (external parties) laboratories to
ensure the compliance to requirement of QAQC protocols.
 To control and maintain the availability, consumptions and storages including to prepare contract &
budget requirement of Certified Reference Material (CRM), sample standards and blank samples
to ensure no delay in sample preparation and assay provision.
 To provide regular QAQC report to Vale Base Metal Qualified Person for QAQC as required by Vale
Base Metals Guidelines and Standards for Mineral Resource and Reserve Estimation and
Reporting.
 To provide regular QAQC performance summary report of exploration projects as obligatory support
to MRMR annual report.
 Involve in ISO 9001:2015 implementation in Quality and Management System to maintain KPI's
and continuous improvement in Quality and Management System of exploration activities.

Technical Specialization:
• Ni laterite geology and deposit knowledge, related mineralogy, geochemistry, ore type and its
characteristics.
• Concepts and methods of Ni laterite block modeling and geostatistics applications.
• Basic statistics analysis and evaluation concepts and its applications
• Geological Sampling Theory and its QAQC fundamentals from the stage of general investigations,
exploration, development and mine production control
• Geological Drilling and Sampling for various stage of exploration, development and production
• Sample Handling procedures
• Sample Preparation concepts, methods and industrial best practices
• Geological Database Management
• QAQC audit protocol for exploration sample preparation, sample handling, drilling and geological
sampling
• Knowledge and concept of various sample analysis methods (XRF, ICP, LOI, LECO, etc.)
• Industrial Guidelines and Standards for Mineral Resource and Reserve Estimation and Reporting
and similar standards referenced as industrial best practice.
• ISO 9001:2015 implementation in Quality and Management System

Requirements:
• Bachelor degree (S1) from Geology
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience
