Product Principles – SLIDE 5

» Release Often - PaperCut is released approximately every 3-4 months as part of our "release
often" development policy. This assures that new features are available throughout the year
and that problems that have been corrected are available to customers quickly
» Upgrades are optional - Customers do not need to upgrade at each new release, however
PaperCut recommends upgrading to the current version of each module to take full
advantage of new PaperCut features and additional device support. Read the Release History
to determine if your customer will benefit from a new release
» Major Release at the start of each year - For the past 10 years the PaperCut version has
coincided with the calendar year. Version 15.0 was released on February 24, 2015.
» Premium Upgrade Assurance is the only recurring cost outside of additions to the license
(users, embedded, etc). As an optional cost, Premium Upgrade Assurance is for yearly
continued access to upgrades and premium support, and can be paid upfront for up to 5
years with a sizable discount.

o PaperCut comes with a fully functional in-built demo that works for 40 days:
o Allows Proof of Concept testing on all features and functions
o Demos can be extended on request by emailing sales@papercut.com.
o Online demos for the PaperCut Admin and User Consoles are available from the Live
Demo page.
o MFD Tour pages have YouTube videos showing PaperCut in action on the device.
Type “mfd tour” on the PaperCut website search bar and find the link.
» Simple pricing model
o Pricing is primarily based on the number of user and the number of multi-function devices.
o Unlimited printers, workstations, servers and operating systems are included at no charge.
o Options are features that are only required for specific configurations eg. Payment Gateways,
Advanced Clients, Site Servers, Release Stations.
o Prices are very competitive. Prices are reviewed for change on the 1st of January and the 1st of
July, however, changes are rare and minimal

o NG came first – (Print Job Management) Designed as an end user DIY download and
buy application - over 50k organisations around the world have successfully
downloaded and installed themselves, using our comprehensive online
documentation, knowledge base and discussion forums.
o MF – Came next (Everything NG is plus MFP Access Control, Copy, Scan and Fax
Management. MF is only sold via a global partner channel Certified resellers
» Discuss the upgrade opportunities
» Discuss seeding NG to create MF upgrades
» Discuss using NG as a print audit tool
» PaperCut MF is only available through certified PaperCut resellers that are skilled at
demonstrating PaperCut on multi-function devices. Using MFD embedded software, PaperCut
MF can track and control copy, fax and scan jobs, and allow secure print release at the
device. PaperCut NG is a DIY product without embedded software that tracks printing only
and is available from the public website. PaperCut NG prospects requesting demos or
installation assistance are referred to resellers

» When installing PaperCut, printers hosted on the server are automatically detected and users
are added by synchronizing with the network user directory (Active Directory/LDAP)
» Default color and grayscale page cost, initial balance, user restriction and account selection
are click through prompts during installation.
» The server installation and configuration is straightforward and can be completed by any IT
professional familiar with server software installation
» MFD embedded operating systems are unique and geared toward technical professional with
admin experience on the device that is being installed

Easy to Upgrade – SLIDE 13

» All upgrades are over the top. No data migration or server restarts are required! The
customer can download the latest version of PaperCut from the Admin Console About
tab. Major upgrades that require updating the embedded software on MFDs must be done
with the assistance of an Authorized Solution Center or reseller.
» Upgrades can be staggered if the site has multiple components (client software, secondary
server, release stations)
» Version upgrades are included at no additional cost if the license has active Premium
Upgrade Assurance (PUA). PUA is mandatory for the first 12 months, and strongly
encouraged after that.
» Migrating from PaperCut NG to PaperCut MF is also an over the top installation. No data
migration or server restarts are required, and the interfaces look and feel the same!

Quotes and Orders – SLIDES 14 -18

» Quotes
o Resellers with portal logins that have permission to access the online quote system
will have a ‘Quotations” link on the portal home page
o The ‘What-if’ style interface allows you to run multiple scenarios quickly
o No need to cancel a quote if requirements change, simply enter a new quote that will
be valid for the full quote period (40 days)
o Your ASC will use your quote to generate the order with PaperCut
» PaperCut NG and MF Options
o Advanced Clients - Used for Shared Accounts, primarily by professional services
firms (law office, architect, etc.) to charge printing to their clients. Provides preferred
accounts and recently used accounts list. Allows users to add notes or charges
(binding, postage, etc) at time of print
o Release Stations - Secure Print Release from a Windows PC that is locked to the
PaperCut Release Station application. Works with a USB card reader or touch
screen.
o Online Payment Gateway - Allows users to add money to their PaperCut account
using a credit card from their browser based PaperCut User Web Tools. Some
Payment Gateways automatically deduct funds from a campus card. Online Payment
Gateways range in price from $495USD to $5,000USD.
o Site Servers - Provides resilience for sites when the network connection to the
PaperCut Primary server is down.
» PaperCut MF only options
o MFD Embedded - Software that uses the MFDs screen and keyboard to facilitate user
authentication, shared account selection, secure print release and charging of copy,
fax and scan jobs to the user. This is the preferred method to connect MFDs to
PaperCut because:

• it runs on the device, no additional hardware required

• it can be installed by a network technician, no special cabling
• it tracks copy, fax and scan. Hardware terminals only track copies.
• it is less expensive to purchase and maintain than a hardware terminal
• Hardware Terminal Connector Pack - Allows hardware terminals (purchased
separately from your ASC) to connect to MFDs/copiers so PaperCut can
control the device. Facilitates user authentication, secure print release and
charging of copy jobs to the user or shared account (no fax or scan tracking).
Five connectors to a pack.
• Fast Release Connector Pack - Provides “release all” print release for printers
using an Ethernet attached card reader (purchased separately from your
ASC). Five connectors to a pack.
• Hardware Payment Gateway - Terminals that allow users to deposit cash to
add credit to their PaperCut account, or pay for jobs that have been selected
for print (pay for print).

» Discounts
o Educational: For schools, colleges and universities. Private training centers teaching
hospitals are approved for Educational pricing on a case-by-case basis. The minimum
MF license for Education is 500 Users at a cost of $700USD
o Commercial: For all business except companies that bill their customers for printing.
The minimum MF license for Commercial is for 25 Users at a cost of $592USD
o Professional Services (Client Billing): For companies that bill customers for printing.
The license includes unlimited Advanced Clients. The minimum MF license for
Professional Services is for 25 Users at a cost of $850USD
o Key components of PaperCut have a lower price per unit as the unit volume
increases. Volume discounts are given for users, devices, Release Stations,
Advanced Clients, Terminal Connection packs, Hardware Payment Gateways and
PayStations.
o Volume discounts are automatically calculated and applied to the quote or order.
o Discounts are applied when a Special Order Code is used for campaigns, competitive
cross-grade, NG to MF cross-grade, Embedded cross-grade and government / non-
profit
o On special circumstances resellers may request discounts in addition to the automatic
discounts

How to order – SLIDE 18

» Your orders will be placed by your Authorized Solution Center using the quote that you
generate. Send email to your ASC with the quote attached to request that your order be
placed with PaperCut. Some ASCs have a “Quick Quote” link on your ASC portal that can be
used to enter a quote.
» Hardware components that interface with PaperCut are sold by ASCs. Components include
card readers, PayStations and hardware terminals. ASCs are authorized distributors for
components that are not provided by PaperCut. Additional services such as installation and
training are also available from ASCs

Licenses – SLIDES 19-22

» License Types
o PaperCut has two products that are licensed separately, PaperCut NG (printer only)
and PaperCut MF (full MFD support). Both products will work without a license for 40
days. 
T licenses:
of here are 3 types
o Not for resell (NFR) License: Provided to resellers for use in reseller showrooms to
demonstrate PaperCut. Must be regenerated every six months.
o Trial Extension License: Used for customer on premises proof of concept testing
when more than 40 days of testing is required.
o Production License: This is the organization’s permanent license that is provided
when the order is filled.
» License Components
o Users - The number of users determines the base license cost. Other base license
components are included at no charge.
o Site Server - Resiliency for network disruptions between the PaperCut Primary server
and sites
o Release Station - PC based kiosk for print release
o Advanced Clients - Advanced account selection, ad-hoc billing and comments for
Professional Services companies
» License Exceptions
o Organizations can apply for a License Exception if their sync source can’t be limited
to users that will print. The Knowledge Base article “Apply for a License Exception or
Variation” explains the application process.
