2.0 INTRODUCTION:
In the following pages hydraulic particulars, general arrangement, structural analysis and
design calculations for Super passage at Km 15.052(15.125) are provided.
In view of the nala with reasonable dischrage crossing the canal at Ch 15125 m a Cross
drainage work such as Super Passage is found necessary. The cross drainage work located
and provided at square at Ch 150520 m, with proper nala training works.
The nala training works are designed for the discharge calculated. The discharge from nala is
calculated as per CE,CDO guide lines. The trepizoidal section is designed as per IS:7784(part 1)-1983.
The Super structure for carrying the nala discharge is proposed to be Simply supported type
RCC cast in situ girder and slab arrangement. The superstructure is proposed with deck slab and walls /
longitudinal girders to contain the discharge. Lateral ties are proposed above HFL at each end and
mid of the girders for lateral restraint of the girders. The deck slab and walls / longitudinal girdres which are
water retaining structures designed as per IS:3370-1965. The Lateral ties which are above HFL are
designed as per IS:456-2000 as is not in contact with water. The Superstructure is proposed with 7 numbers
longitudinal girders and three numbers of lateral ties (one at each end and one at mid span location).
The Deck slab of the Super structure is idealized as one way continuous slab on girders and
analyzed for vertical loads due to water up to HFL. The walls/longitudinal girders are idealized as
cantilever slab and analyzed for horizontal loads due to retaining of water up to HFL. The Longitudinal
girders/walls above deck slab are further idealized as beams and analyzed for the loads from
superstructure including self weight.
The substructure is proposed as solid RCC column type structure on isolated footing. The
piers are analyzed for loads from superstructure and wind loads and designed as per IRC:78-2000.
The pier is checked for Biaxial BM and Axial load. The central pier in water portion is provided
with semicircular water cuts and checked for water current forces.
The abutment is idealized as retaining wall and analyzed for loads from superstructure,
back fill and surcharge.
The founding levels for both piers and abutments are located in Shale mixed with F&F.
