 Text Interpretation

D. Read the poem “The Road Not Taken”

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost And be one traveler, long I stood

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And looked down one as far as I could

And sorry I could not travel both To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Then took the other, as just as fair, Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

And having perhaps the better claim, I doubted if I should ever come back.

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there I shall be telling this with a sigh

Had worn them really about the same, Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —

And both that morning equally lay I took the one less traveled by,

In leaves no step had trodden black. And that has made all the difference.

22. Are these statements true or false according to the poem?

( ) The traveler wanted on both roads.

( ) The traveler walked down one road to investigate it.

( ) The traveler took the first road that s/he looked at.

( ) The second road was more attractive.

( ) Some people had traveled by both roads that day.

( ) In the future, the traveler will tell this story with an emotional tone.
