TIME MANAGEMENT AND LEARNING STYLE OF SCHOOL OF CRIMINAL

JUSTICE STUDENTS AT UNIVERSIDAD DE ZAMBOANGA

ABSTRACT

he researchers aimed to determine the relationship between the time management

and learning style of the School of Criminal Justice students. The study utilized
descriptive-correlation research design. Findings revealed that the level of time
management and learning style of the School of Criminal Justice students was high and
often efficient. Likewise, the results of the significant difference in the level of time
management and learning style of the SCJ students when data were grouped
according to sex, age, and the program was not significant, and the hypothesis was
accepted. However, the year level variable was significant and rejected the null
hypothesis. It was recommended that students have the value of time management
and assess their learning style for them to be able to become independent, responsible
students.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Students have different time management. Usually, students have difficulty to

manage their time. Nowadays, students have so many activities to do like surfing on a
social networking site, playing computer games, sports, and many more activities. But
how the students would be able to manage their time if they are wasting it in
insignificant activities that to study. Likewise, each student has different ways to learn
the activity, gaining knowledge and skill of studying like seeing and hearing, analyzing
and visualizing. The researchers aimed to determine the relationship between the time
management and learning style of the School of Criminal Justice students.

METHODOLOGY

The study utilized the descriptive-correlation research design. This study was
conducted at Universidad de Zamboanga. The population of the study was composed
of 150 SCJ students. The students were selected through random sampling. The quota-
convenience sampling technique was utilized in this study. To accomplish the
important task of the data gathering, the researchers utilized an instrument in the
form of a survey questionnaire. The data gathered was then collected, tabulated,
interpreted, and analyzed using the appropriate statistical tools. This study used the
frequency and percentage, weighted mean, t-test and ANOVA, and Pearson r for the
statistical treatment of data.
RESULTS

Based on the survey conducted, the results were analyzed, interpreted and
summarized in the tabulation.

2. Learning 3.16 High
Grand mean 3.18 High

Table 1 shows the level of time management and learning style of the School of
Criminal Justice students. There is a similar interpretation of high and has a categorical
response of often and efficient. This implies that time management can help tasks
seem less daunting, more organized, and to be finished in a timely and more
productive manner. Also, it explains that students at present are reflective and tactile
learners.

learning style of the SCJ students when data are grouped according to sex, age, and

variable is significant and rejects the null hypothesis.

CONCLUSIONS

Based on the results of the study, this study concluded that the level of time
management and learning style of the School of Criminal Justice students was high and
often efficient. Also, the level of time management and learning style of the SCJ
students were not significant when data are grouped according to sex, age, and
program and accepted the hypothesis. However, the year level variable was
significant, and the null hypothesis was rejected.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The researchers further recommend to the:

Teachers
It is recommended that the teachers should balance the short-term and long-
term goals in the classroom.

Parents
It is recommended that parents should guide and support their children’s
learning style.

Students
It is recommended that the students know their priorities and have a day-to-
day goal for them to become more effective and efficient in their daily tasks.

Future researchers
It is recommended that future researchers may use this review as a reference
in their future researches. The future researchers may also add a variable like academic
performance.
