REACTION
Not to exaggerate, but this movie would be the best
heartbreaking story I have ever watched. As I
watched the film all by myself, it feels like I was also
been part of the characters' grief and agony.
This movie is so touching that it made me to burst
into tears while I was watching. Since this was
inspired from a true-to-life story and was not
fictionalized, you will really get inspired since it have
happened in the real life.
From unified to broken to mend friendships, I found
the story to too good to just be kept alone. That's
why, to those readers who weren't able to see this
movie, I strongly recommend you to watch the film.
It will not just fill your mind with lessons, but will
also break your heart and will instill in your
memories, forever.

SUMMARY

The story of the Miracle Season started by flashing

back on the childhood days of the long time best
friends Caroline Found and Kelly Fiehler. Ever since
they were young, they had already a close bond
within each other up until their teenage years.
By the time that they were already at high school
level, both of them became an active member of the
West Volleyball team and "Line" (Caroline 's
nickname) became the team captain. Caroline was a
sweet,competitive, energetic and optimistic leader
and she always motivate her team to be brave when
the ball game starts. Driven by her charismatic words
and leadership , her team was able to achieve a
victorious back to back state championship at the
lowa city, USA. Their victory made their supporters
to anticipate for another trophy to happen for the next
season against their long time rival , the City High
volleyball squad.
The conflict began when Line hosted a party with her
team together with her friends one night at the dust-
free barn owned by her father Ernie. But before she
attended the party, she secretly visited her mother
Ellen at the hospital where she was being treated for
cancer.
Finally, the party was successfully done and it was
Kelly and Line who was the last to go home.
Before line departed the barn, Kelly was still able to
make a little bit conversation with her, not knowing
that it would be her last minute to see her best
friend. Line was riding with her moped and for the
last time, she gleaned back to see Kelly who was
already meters away from her.
Everything happened at the middle of that night. In
the middle of her deep sleep, someone called Kelly
on the phone and she suddenly bursted into tears
after knowing that her best friend has already passed
away after Line was in a driving accident. Driven by
fear and nervousness, she immediately called their
team coach, Kathy Bresnahan about that horrible
news. Even their coach found it unbelievable and
very depressing.

The news scattered all throughout their school

campus. Days passed by, the family allowed to put
Line's casket inside the West High School and many
students gave their condolences to the bereaved
family. By the time when she was buried, Line's
mother (who was critically suffering from cancer)
attended the funeral. Days passed after Line's death,
Ellyn died.
Line's loss made the West Trojan team to become
dispirited, weak, and vulnerable. Every member in
the team, especially Kelly who was known to be her
best friend, was frustrated and depressed. It became
so hard to them to play the next season knowing that
their great captain was already gone. However, their
coach Kathy did not let herself be carried away from
what have happened. Instead, she became resilient
and courageous. She immediately took the initiative
to approach and convince Kelly to become the leader
of the team and to motivate her members to return to
the game not because they wanted it, but because
they need it, not for themselves or for the school, but
for their lost captain Caroline. Kathy encouraged the
team to don't treat that tragedy as a burden, but rather
take a deep inspiration from it.
At first, it was hard for the West Trojan team to
defeat their opponents, especially their long time
rival, the City High. Their strength and focus tend to
fluctuate. Their teamwork and coordination tends to
decay. Finding out this problem, Kelly found the
courage to take the lead and to remind her co-players
to fight back and instill into their hearts the love and
sweet memories of their lost team captain. In that
way, the Trojan players started to find their fighting
spirit and subsequently attained victories bit by bit
and as a they get into higher steps, their confidence
and competency started to ignite again. They started
to refocus their mind set and mend their broken
hearts. They SERVE their team coach and the school,
SET Caroline as their epicenter of their fighting
spirit and SPIKE the ball for their title, and together
they were able to make it to the championship round
and became the 2010 lowa City Volleyball
Champion.

REVIEW

ABOUT THE TITLE

The title "Miracle Season" was inspired by the

resilience showed by the West Volleyball Team after
the loss of their team captain Caroline Found. The
word "season" does not literally mean the four
changing seasons in a year, but rather it signifies the
season of the game. Since that season is the time
when Caroline passed away, it was a miracle on how
did the bereaved team was able to fight back and
even win the championship.
ABOUT THE CHARACTERS

The characters made a very significant role in the

film. They were able to convey to the viewers the
right emotions in each of the scenes. Overall, the
characters portray very well as if it happened in the
actual story.

ABOUT THE STORY

Clean and Mild--that's how I generalize the overall

flow of the story. The movie did not use some bad
language or words that are inappropriate to the young
viewers. Even during the scenes where the characters
are anticipated to say bad words (e.g. the consecutive
losses of the West Volleyball Team) still
inappropriate language did not exist.
However, there was a flaw on the part of Caroline ' s
death. The movie did not show on how did she had
the riding accident. Only in the next scene it was
revealed where some characters put some stuffs
( which have a sentimental value to Line) on a tree
which was thought to be the place where her moped
crashed. But overall, it was a good and organized
ideas.

REFLECTION AND LESSON

Pain is one of the inevitable things that happens to us

humans. In that pain, there would be two options that
you can do: remain or move on. Loosing someone,
especially the love of our lives would really lead us
to depression and remorse like what have happen to
the West Volleyball Team. But, we should always
remind ourselves that everything happens for a
reason. That loss was not intended to make you
weak. It was intended to make you strong.
Oftentimes people misunderstand this concept. They
always look on the dark side and disregard the bright
side. They remain and live on it. But remember, grief
are just part of life. But, if you will remain in that
dark place, you will never understand, experience
and realize the good things that are waiting for you in
the future.
