Green Buildings: Enviromental Impacts
Green Buildings: Enviromental Impacts
INTRODUCTION:
Green buildings: A green building is a building that, in its design, construction or
operation, reduces or eliminates negative impacts, and can create positive impacts, on our
climate and natural environment. The basis features of green buildings are
- Efficient use of energy
- Efficient use of water
- Indoor air quality
- Use of eco-friendly materials
- Waste management
- Indoor air quality, etc.
Environmental Impacts:
The term environmental impact refers to the possible effects a particular action may have on
the natural environment. These effects can be either negative or positive.
Energy Conservation:
It is an effort for reduced use of energy, either by using less amount of it or using it in more
efficient way. Green buildings does it both ways.
Water Management:
It refers to the efficient use of potable water, grey and black water treatment and reuse,
ground water recharge.
HYPOTHESIS:
Residential green buildings fulfil the aspects of energy conservation and water management.
AIM:
To prove residential green buildings fulfil the aspects of energy conservation and water
management.
OBJECTIVES:
- To study electrical appliances used in residential buildings
- To study total power consumption of appliances.
- To study renewable sources of energy in green buildings.
- To study water consumption.
- To study existing techniques used for water management in green buildings.
- To study new options available.
METHODOLOGY:
Analysis
Conclusions
Limitations:
The study will be limited to residential green multi-storey buildings only, also the standards
for green methods will be referred from the guide IGBC GREEN HOMES only.
