Method statement of Stringing activities @ PK Bari -132 kV

Stringing between TP tower & TO TN at PK Bari Extension

Objective: To carry out stringing activity safely after partial shutdown.

Hazard associated: Electrical, Mechanical, environmental, physical,

Tools details:

1. Pully Close type- 05

2. PP rope – 250 mtrs.
3. Spanner -4 ( 22 X 24 )
4. Tummy – 2
5. Manlift
6.
Manpower details:

1. Fitter -6
2. GL-01
3. Helper -1
4. Supervisor- 02
5. Engineer – GE & SPGVL
6. Safety –

Step -01

1. Tools & PPE inspection. :

2. Induction training
3.
Prior to start the stringing activity –

1. Area housekeeping e.g. shifting of unwanted items, etc. from location.

Prior to shut down

1. All stringing material should be available to nearby location including

2. Cutting of conductor would be done in non-live yard zone.
3. All T&Ps must be inspected, tagged and color coded
4. Authorized LOTO & Height workers must be deputed at location

Shut down –

1. Take shutdown of adjacent feeder

2. Follow the Height Work Permit & LOTO procedure – (Lock the feeder or panel from where
shut down given & tag must be hanged on feeder with authorized LOTO person name and
contact number)
3. Engage only trained worker into the work
4. Discharge rod must be used to discharge the residual current at both ends of live zone

After shut down–

1. Lay the cut conductor between tower span using existing tower beam, Bamboo support
and Manlift.
2. Assemble the composite/polymer insulator as per the drawing.
3. Fix the string hardware and corona ring / turn buckle / sag compensating spring to the
conductor. Fix the same to the insulator string.
4. Fix one end of the conductor span with string to one of the beams, with the help of lifting
tools(PP Rope & Pulley) manually by fixing it on enough strengthening material.
5. Lift other end of the conductor along with string by pulleys After achieving required
tension/sag, fix it on the beam.
6. After fixing of both the ends of span, recheck the sag and ensure the same is as per sag
tension chart. If required, adjust the sag by turn buckle.
7. Fix the spacers as per the approved drawing.

Stringing work would be completed and returning of shut down would be done.
