ACTIVITY: EXPANDED METAL LATHING

8.1 KNOWLEDGE OF ACTIVITY

1. Nail the rhombus mesh rolls over the block work and concrete junctions with steel nail /
wooden plug and nails .
2. The fixing of mesh should be rigid and then plastered.
3. The plastered strip should be cured at least for 3 days prior to plastering the entire wall. .
4. The nails to be 1 ½ lay wise , shall be driven into concrete / block/brick by drilling a hole
The nails shall be staggered and folded to secure the mesh . The over lapping and width of
mesh depends on the contract specs .

5. Cement mortar of 1:3 proportion shall be laid over the mesh not to exceed the plastering
thickness and imprint to be made to be made for bonding purpose .

8.2. TOOLS REQUIRED

1. Mason’s hammer
2. Mason’s trowel .

3.Safety goggles

4.Sand sieve

5. Measuring tape

6 Cutting tool.

8.3 Inspection
1. Ensure mesh is properly stretched and nailed , overlaps are proper .

2. Plastering to be precise , curing for 3 days.

3 . Check for any cracks .
