Complete the following sentences:

1. The online course I’m teaching in for this activity is synchronous.

2. In this online activity, my online students will use a simulation on nutritional food groups
to have an individual experience based upon their unique choices. Each child’s end result
will be different, and I will grade them online by screenshot submission of their food groups
game completion.

Online Activity This is a synchronous online simulation for a fourth

grade health course. Students have access to the course
simulation beforehand. Before the start of the simulation, the
students will watch a pre-recorded lecture discussion on the
importance of the five food groups and eating nutritional foods
for a healthy body. The students will watch the video lessons
below the simulation (Lessons 1,3, &6) ahead of starting. The
students will watch the videos listed and participate in the
simulation that requires them to sort foods within each food
group and understand the importance of daily physical activity.
After the students have finished watching the lecture
video, they will then be able to access the simulation assignment.
The pre-recorded lecture will be presented on Screencast-O-
matic. Therefore, the students will be able to follow along and
comprehend how to access the simulation website. In Screencast-
O-matic, the students will be directed to the Healthy Eating
simulations website. The students will scroll down and choose
the “MyPlate Match Game” simulation. The students will select
the blue “start game” button. Once the students have read the
Pedagogy

given information, they will select the “go” button. The students
will match the group shapes into the correct spots. The students
will then select “continue.” They will read the given information
and then select “continue.” After reading, the students will drag
each food item into the correct food group (or into the glass).
Once the students have completed that, the students will select
“continue.” In conclusion, the students will drag and drop the
items into the clock and comprehend how much physical activity
an individual needs in a day. The students will then receive a
completion confirmation page; the students either have the option
to play again or check out more interactive simulations.
The students must be sure to screenshot the completion page.
