The Usual

People began to pause from what they were doing and the students’ voices

turned into whispers and later on went inaudible, that is a usual scene in the Magis

canteen whenever the Angelus prayer started. The voices of the students started to

build up its volume as the prayer ended. I shuffled my feet while contemplating on what

I want to eat for lunch. I stood up on my seat and walked against the bustling crowd that

swarmed the canteen, I dislike having to squeeze my way into the crowd just to buy

food but that feeling of dislike was overpowered by the feeling of hunger. I deposited my

ID to the canteen personnel and then she gave me a pink bento box. I looked around

the menu and the aroma of the food was very pleasing to smell. The crisp texture of the

fried chicken and the pork chop were appetizing but are too dry to my liking. I opted for

a meal that’s a combination of a comfort food and something healthy, I pointed at my

go-to viands which are chopsuey and stuffed shrimp. It’s funny how I still scanned

through the menu when I’ll still end buying my usual order. After paying for my food, I

went back to my seat and started eating.
