Adjusting the stitch length

With the main feed dog stop pressed down, set the stitch length (ito 4) indicated on hand
wneel 11 opposite mark A
The standard stitch length is indicated oy N (3 mmt
Note: the handwheel can not be turned past stitch length numbers 1 and 4, respectively.
When the desired stitch length s set, release main feed dog stop and close work support 15
Adjusting the differential feed
The differential feed prevents inter-ply shift. It consists of two feed dogs, arranged one
behind the other, which both pick up and move the workpiece at the same time
The feed amount of either feed dog can be set separately. It is possible to have the
workpiece moved more by the front feed dog than by the rear one and vice versa. Owing to
that very good sewing results are accomplished. Set the differential feed according to the
material you wish to process (see table on page 28). The following settings at button 16 are
possible:
Setting 0.5 = Short stroke of front feed dog, long stroke of rear feed dog
Setting — = Same stroke of both feed dogs
Setting 1 5 = Long stroke of front feed dog, short stroke of rear
feed dog
Setting 2 = Front feed dog set for longest possible stroke, roar feed doq set for shortest
possible stroke
The differential feed can be set infinitely from 0.5 to 2, also during sewing

Note:
The following variants can be employed to obtain fashionable effects on garments
The gather effect is obtained at a differential feed setting of 15—2 when light fabrics are
processed.
The wave effect is obtained at a differential feed setting of 0 5 when medium o heavy elastic
fabrics are processed.

L_
is table indicates possible settings of the differential feed. In order to make sure about the setting
iuired for the fabric you wish to process. a sewing test has to be made.
e differential feed can also be set during sewing.

This special sewing foot allows elastic
tape attaching in one operation; at the
same time the material is gathered and
the excess fabric cut off.
Preparing the machine:
Differential
feed setting: set at— (see page 27)
Sewing foot: engage tape attaching foot
Thread
tension: “N” (3 or 4 x)
Seam width: approx 4 to 4.5 mm
Stitch length: approx. 4 mm
Elastic tape insertion:
Loosen screw —2— and tilt brake —1 —

upwards. Insert elastic tape and place it

to the rear under the foot. Tighten brake
—1— again with screw —2—. The more
