FAQ

1. “Why are some lessons showing up on two days?” –Some lessons allow students to complete
the lesson over two days. In some of the lessons, there is no clear definition of where to stop.
Please use your judgement to determine a good stopping point and/or whether to continue on
for your child. If stopping, complete the lesson the next time it appears on the student’s
planner. Be sure not to mark it off until it is completed.

2. “Some of the videos aren’t working.” - Videos in the lessons work better through the student
login. If you still have issues using the school issued computer, please contact Tech Support at 1-
800-382-6010.

3. “The Educational Technology lesson wants me to download Tux Paint, but I can’t get it to
work OR it gave me a virus.” – Have no fear! Tech Support is happy to help you download it or
help you get anything weird off the computer that might have happened when you tried to
download it. Trust me, it happened to me, too. Please call 1-800-382-6010 for help and
assistance.

4. “The journal within the lesson won’t let us type.” – You’re right and that’s ok! You don’t have
to use the online journal, but we do suggest that you dedicate a notebook of paper to your
student’s journaling. The lessons suggest students and Learning Coaches to have a conversation
about the various topics within the lesson, but we think it’s best that they get some fine motor
practice along the way. Writing down thoughts or even doodling pictures are GREAT practice
activities.

5. What is a Word Wall? - A word wall is a collection of words which are displayed in large visible
letters on a wall, bulletin board, or other display surface in a student’s work area. The word
wall is designed to be an interactive tool for students and contains an array of words that can be
used during writing and reading. There are many different ways to create a word wall. Please
check under Language Arts tab for extra resources.

6. “What do I need to send in each day?”- You will only send in portfolio items. They are clearly
labeled in the planner with a little icon that looks like a manila folder with a p in the lower left
corner. (I go in depth on this in my class orientation!! Review if needed!! Please!!)

7. “I don’t know if I watched the Learning Coach Help.” – If you can’t remember, you probably
didn’t and that’s ok. There is a lot to take in during these first few weeks of school. However, if
you didn’t watch it, we ask that you please take some time to do so now. We spend a lot of time
each week making sure families have the information they need to be successful and so we just
ask that you take the time in return to stay informed. To watch the Live Lesson, log in to your
student’s account and click on Learning Coach help.
8. Notes on the Newsletter – We know you get lots of webmails, but PLEASE take time at the
beginning of each week to read the Launchpad Briefing. Again, we spend time crafting these and
trying to proactively answer questions you may have OR fill you in on important things you need
to know. Please read them and let your teacher know if you have questions or concerns that are
not addressed. 

We are really excited to work with you and your families this year. We are here to help you have a
successful school year! 
