6. Purpose/Objective of the Subproject:


To effectively treat wastewater and dispose of without danger to human health
and to the natural environment
To manage water discharged from homes and businesses and reduce the threat of
water pollution
To provide proper disposal of biodegradable solid waste and convert it to energy
(waste to energy disposal scheme) which in turn generate renewable power
To promote sustainable development by utilizing renewable sources of energy
and environmental friendly and energy saving technologies
To enhance tourism growth and increase generation of income to the LGU

8. Project Site (Please provide Land Classification and site description)


1. The project will be located in the Municipality of El Nido which covers the 4
Poblacion Barangays, Maligaya, Masagana, Buena Suerte and Coron Coron.
2. The proposed cluster tanks, sewerage network and solar power system will be
located in the 4 barangays while the sewage and solid waste treatment plant
(SSTP) will be situated in Brgy. Villa Libertad
3. According to the tax declaration obtained the classification of the property is
Residential Agricultural. Please see attached tax declaration.

9. Existing Condition of the Subproject:


As to date there is no existing sewerage and treatment plant in the Municipality of
El Nido. Improper disposal or discharge of unwanted wastes resulted in the
catastrophic order of suspension by the DENR to close down the El Nido bay
which consequently caused to incur great losses to its tourism industry.

The Project has two parts. The first part is already under construction which
includes mainly the civil structures of the SSTP and cluster tanks and the majority
of the solar power systems and sewerage systems.
It doesn’t include the pumping systems, process instrumentation and controls,
additional cluster tanks and sewerage systems and other auxiliary part which are
included in part two of this project.
Wastewater from homes and hotel, restaurant and all sorts of businesses have no
wastewater treatment systems and are all disposing their wastewater direct to the
sea
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has already ordered the
LGU - El Nido to fast track the completion of the sewage treatment systems
