Enabling auto start of TEMS Discovery

1. Introduction
TEMS Discovery is a Windows desktop application which requires a logged on
Windows system in order to start. TEMS Discovery contains an application monitor
which can restart TEMS Discovery if the TEMS Discovery application terminates
abnormally. But it can’t start if Windows machine is rebooted or restarted.
Windows can be configured to start TEMS Discovery automatically during
unexpected restart of the machine. The followings sections explained how to do
that.

2. Turn on Windows Automatic logon


i) Open control panel – Start ->Control Panel
ii) Click on ‘User Accounts’

iii) Click on ‘Manage User Accounts’


iv) Uncheck ‘User must enter a user name and password to use this computer’
check box .

v) Click ‘Apply’

vi) Enter user name & password and click ‘OK’.


vii) Close all open windows by clicking on ‘OK’

3. Add TEMS Discovery as Startup program

i) Open the registry editor – Click ‘Start’ and type ‘regedit’ in the search
window. Click Enter to start the registry editor. Click ‘Yes’ is ‘User Access
Control’ window shows up.

ii) Go to the key


‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Run’

iii) Create a new entry of ‘String Value’ type. Name it TDE and provide
‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Ascom\TEMS Products\TEMS
Discovery\Discovery.exe’ as data.

Close the registry and restart the machine.
