b. Identify the color coding of wires used in straight through LAN cabling
c. Value the importance of following safety precaution while working

Materials Needed for LAN Cabling

 Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
Cable most commonly used type
of cable in local area connection
 Wire Stripper used to remove the
outer jacket of the wire
 RJ45 Connector an eight-wire
connector used to connect the
computers to category 5 UTP cable
in a network
 Crimping Tool used to conjoin the
UTP cable to RJ45 connector to
hold each other
 Cable (LAN) Tester used to test if
the cable is properly done and can
control the network”

“Steps in LAN Cabling”

1. Prepare all the materials and tools
needed.
2. Carefully remove the outer jacket
of the cable.
3. Untwist the parts and arrange the
wires based on T568B wiring.
4. Trim the untwisted wires to a
suitable length.
5. Keep the wires flat and in-order as
you push them into the RJ45
6. Place the wires plug into the
crimping tool
7. Repeat all the steps with the other
end of the cable
8. Test the cable using the LAN tester

“LAN Cabling is the process of creating a

LAN cable which is used in interconnecting
computers. There are 2 types of LAN cable,
the cross-over and straight through used
to connect many computers with the use
of HUB. There are several tools and
materials used in LAN cabling like UTP
cable, wire stripper, crimping tool and the
LAN tester.

F. Evaluation
1. In a 1 whole sheet of pad paper write down the different tools and equipment used
in creating a straight-through cable
2. Give the steps in creating a straight-through cable
3. Give at least 3 precautionary measures in performing a task.
