B. Review/Recall

We already discussed about the commonly RAM, motherboard, video card, processor,
replaced computer components. Now, what are hard disk drive, CD/DVD room, CMOS battery,
those components that are commonly replaced network interface card (LAN)
that we already tackled?

Okey, very good. How about the factors we need Compatibility of the component, component
to consider in replacing the defective computer specification and form factor
components?

“Very Good, now we can move on to our next


topic.”

C. Motivation

I have here 3 sets of picture. Each picture has


a situation. Solve the following situation.

1. A young businessman wants to apply in the


company. He was amazed of the tall building but
suddenly he got confused on how to go to 5th
floor. Help the businessman.

2. Anna is thinking how she can make the sound


heard by everyone. Help her find out how.

3. Alex wants to travel to the paradise island to


have her summer there. What is the possible way
to go there or the fastest way for not only her to
go there easily but also the others who want to
take a vacation without any hindrances. Help her
and the other people.

Based on our activity, what can you notice? It’s


all about what?

Okey very good, our activity is all about


connections. The first picture, the elevator is the
one that connects from 1st floor up to 5th floor. In
the second picture, we can connect that using the
connector or via Bluetooth. And in the last
picture, we can use a boat to go to the other
island. Another example of number three is the
San Juanico bridge that connects two islands
which are the Samar and Leyte.

And in computer we use a connector or a cable


just to connect with the other computer. And for
us to connect with the other computer, we need

a cable. There are two types of cable we need to


do. Let us first discuss the cross-over Ethernet
cable.

I will play a video demonstrating how to make a ( The students are quietly watching the video)
cross-over ethernet cable.

Enumerate the procedures in making a PROCEDURE:
cross-over cable.
1. Prepare all the tools and materials needed.

2. Remove the outmost vinyl shield for


12mm at one end of the cable

3. Arrange the metal wires in parallel

4. Insert the metal wires into RJ45 connector

5. Set the RJ45 connector on the crimping


tool, and squeeze it tightly.

6. Make the other side of the cable (we call


this side B-side) in the same way.

7. Test your cable using the LAN tester

Cross-over cable is important in the way that it


can connect two devices of the same type (e.g
computer to computer) without the use of
another hub or a switch.
