1. 0 Review of Design Load for Steel Parapets

A review of vehicle impact load for the proposed steel parapet at top of a
retaining wall is required as the current parapet design requirement is fixed on L3 Containment Steel
stiff bridge deck and the relevant impact loads are derived from this assumption. Parapet

Clause 15.2 and Table 33 from HKSDM:
Speed limit ≥ 70kmp; Bus Usage ≥ 10; Impact Row 20

H = 1.50m
& Vertical drop ≥ 10m; Traffic Volume ≥ 30,000;

& Percentage of Commercial Vehicles ≥ 20 %
Therefore to adopt L3 containment level based on assumptions

Max speed: 50 km/h (Table 30)

Spacing between posts: 3 m

Impact loading on the parapet (posts) will be calculated in according
