Create an associative intersection curve

1. Choose Curve tab→Derived Curve group→Intersection Curve .

2. Select the datum plane as shown.

3. In the Set 2 group, click Select Face and select the top planar face.

4. In the Settings group, ensure that the Associative check box is selected.
5. Click OK.

The associative intersection curve is created between the plane and the top
face.

Subdivide the face

1. Choose Home tab→Feature group→Divide Face .

2. Select the top planar face.

3. In the Dividing Objects group, click Select Object .

4. On the Top Border bar, from the Curve Rule list, select Feature Curves.
5. Select the intersection curve.

6. In the Projection Direction group, ensure that Projection Direction is set

to Normal to Face.
7. In the Settings group, ensure that the Hide Dividing Objects check box is
selected.
8. Click OK.

Apply draft to the divided face

1. Choose Home tab→Feature group→Draft .

2. In the Draft dialog box, from the Type list, select From Edges.
3. In the Draw Direction group, from the Specify Vector list, select Face/Plane

Normal .
4. Select the existing datum plane.

5. In the Stationary Edges group, with Select Edge active, select the edge of the
newly divided face.
6. In the Angle 1 on-screen input box, type 12 and press Enter.

Draft will be applied to the face the vector is pointing towards.

7. Click Apply.

8. In the Draw Direction group, from the Specify Vector list, select Face/Plane

Normal .
9. With Specify Vector (1) active, select the existing datum plane.
10. Click Reverse Direction to apply draft to the opposite face.
11. Select the divided edge and click OK.

Both faces now have draft applied to them in opposite directions.

Test the associativity

1. Hide the datum plane used to define the draft.
2. In the Part Navigator, select the Sketch (2) feature and expand
the Details panel.
3. Locate the expression angle’0=9 and double click the Expression box.

This expression defines the angle between the datum and the sketch line.

4. Type 20 and press Enter.

The draft feature updates with the changes made to the datum sketch angle.

5. Close the part.

You completed the activity.
