Activity: Create text along a curve

In this activity, you will create text along a connected curve. By default, each
created text character will follow the direction of the curve.

Create text along a curve

1. Open syn1_text_curve.

2. Choose Curve tab→Curve group→Text .

3. On the Text dialog box, click Reset .

4. In the Text dialog box, from the Type list, select On Curve.
5. Select the spline towards the left half of the curve.

Tip The curve end that is selected sets the start direction of your text.

7. There are several handles and on-screen input boxes that can be used to modify
the appearance and location of your text.
8. In the Settings group, ensure that the Associative and Join Curves check boxes
are selected and click OK.

Experiment with the handles

1. In the Part Navigator, double-click Text (5).
2. Drag each handle to modify the text appearance and location.

The following is one example of how text might be modified.

3. In the Text Properties group, review the available options and modify
the Font type.
4. Click OK.

If you changed the font your text may appear differently from the following
image.

Test associativity and edit the text

1. In the Part Navigator double-click Sketch (4) "PROFILE".
2. Edit the elbow_angle and elbow_radius with a larger value of your choice.

3. On the Home tab, click Finish Sketch .

The text is updated along the curve.

If you make the sketch values too small, the text may disappear from the view,
although it will be listed in the Part Navigator.
You will also receive information about this error. This situation can be
corrected by making the sketch large enough to include the text.

4. In the Part Navigator, double-click Text (5).

5. In the Text Properties group, in the text string box, type Pt. No. NX and watch
the string dynamically update.

6. Click OK.
7. Close the part.
