There is remedy for the person who decides to undergo a change of heart, but there is no relief to
thief, murderer and arrogant person. Remedy is all about developing the skill of self discipline,
perseverance, self confidence and bravery.

Therefore the expiator must behave in a disciplined way. The remedy should be done with their
own money and without troubling others. Temple is a place where all sort of people gather together

It is usually special to make remedies on expiator’s Zen star. You can do remedies according to the
relevant day of the planet or on the date of no-moon day or full-moon day. Remedies can also be best
done on Ashwini, Magha and Moola Natkshatras. The remedies should not be done on the birth star of
4-8-12 nakshatra. Expiation should be avoided during the rain and at the time of twilight, midnight
and noon. Remedy for planetary blemishes should be done at the time of waning moon.

the art of astrology and the astrologers on the whole.

Adishankarachariyar composed ‘kanagathara shothiram’ inorder to extricate a family from

poverty. But nowadays people with good financial status are chanting ‘kanagathara shothiram’ hoping
to be deep-pocketed. Poverty is a kind of illness. Adishankarachariyar chanted shothiram in order to
treat the poverty and not for those who are good in prosperity. There is a justification in asking God
for what he does not possess and what is indispensable for him.

A bachelor can fall for a spinster but a married man and a married woman cannot fall for each other
and it is injustice.

It is hard to treat leprosy. Greediness is similar to leprosy as it is difficult to satisfy a greedy person.

prostitution, then there will be nothing more horrible level in astrology. We believe that those who

ARE REMEDIES USEFUL?

The main role of astrology is to give solution. Many people ask “are remedies useful?” this question
is like asking ‘will the rain stops if we hold umbrella?’ First you need to understand what is meant by
remedy.

Food is the remedy for hunger

Water is the remedy for thirst

Shade is the remedy for sunshine

Heat is the remedy for chillness.

medicine cures the sickness?” You will come to know the truth only if you consume it. It is true that
people are being deceived by the name of remedy. It is true that people are cheated in medical field.
The astrology unit is not an exception in this period, where uncertified physicians and fake drugs are
inexpensive. But on the whole, the astrologers cannot be stamped as fake for this reason. As there are
many kinds of treatment for a disease, there are many remedies to get rid of blemishes from
horoscope. Same method of treatment is not applicable to all individual with same disease. Similarly,
the same kind of remedy may not work for the people having blemishes alike. The remedial

“can water heal thirst?” it is better to drink and feel the truth.

AUSPICIOUS TIME IN ASTROLOGY – A REMEDY FOR BLEMISHES

Among the six divisions of astrology, one division is auspice. Auspice is of two divisions,
opportune and inopportune. The birth time of a person is the auspicious time. Any avocation
done during auspicious time will have better growth. Any avocation done during inauspicious
time will end up devastated.

If a child is born during auspicious time it will have a prosperous future, whereas if a child is
born during inauspicious time, it will not be so. The purpose of astrology is to shape the
baby’s unfortunate future into a good one, though the child is born during inauspicious time.

When a good deed is done at the auspicious time by a person from birth to death his fate can
be modified to some extent. Our forefathers believed this and so they conducted the
ceremonies like ‘karpathanam’, ‘pumsavanam’, ‘purification ceremony’, ‘jadhakarmam’,
‘namakaranam’, ‘solar and lunar darshan’, ‘annaprasana’ , ‘atcharappiyasam’, ‘ear pinning’,
‘clasping waist cord’and ‘marriage’ at the auspicious time throughout the years. It has been
said that in astrology, auspice deals with the expiation of blemishes. Expiation is an attempt
to overcome the blemishes. It can be either success or failure.

A sick person consumes pill believing that he will be cured, but sometimes it may not work.
So we cannot conclude that taking medicines ends up in vain. Similarly auspicious time is the
appropriate time for expiating blemishes. Expiation may not work for some person. So we
should not conclude that it is not necessary to do things at auspicious time.

Each and every day of a year will have its imperfection. The day with less imperfection is
considered as auspicious day. Expiation is like a supporting stick given to the cripple. This
gives him the support to walk, other than that it will not promote the germination of foot.
Similarly in astrology, the auspicious time is considered as the right time to revert the evil
consequences but it will not eradicate the evil as a whole.

IS ATONING MATERIALS USEFUL?

There are many number of atoning materials suggested to redress the blemishes. Many people
ask whether it true that wearing metal bangles, rings, gem stones and herbal will decrease the
effect of nine planets. This is true in the sense, the lightning conductor guards the building by
neutralising the power emitted from the lightning and thunder. These lightning conductors are
made of copper rods. Similarly, the atoning material guards a person from the consequence of
planet radiation. The whole world is filled with electrified waves. These electrified waves
affect the people in one or the other way. It may result in good or evil consequences. In order
to prevent human beings from the evil effect of the electrified waves, sages with long time
experience found that some materials serves as an armour for protection. These materials are
nothing but atoning materials.

We cannot say that, atoning materials alone helps us to overcome the effect of planetary
blemishes. There are many categories in expiation; among that wearing metallic objects, 9
precious stones and herbal things to our body is one of the kinds. A person can also escape
from the consequence of planetary impact with his own mental strength.

A person can get rid of problems through prayer and penance. In some places on Earth, the
energy facing the planetary blemishes is naturally present. By visiting such places we can
escape from planetary impact. Our ancestors have built the temples in such places. Yogi and
Siddha do not experience any impact of the planets. So even when they are close to it, they
are not affected by planetary blemishes.

These are the experienced truths. Instead of asking “whether the atoning materials are
useful?” it is good to feel the truth by making use of it.

RULES TO BE FOLLOWED BY THE EXPIATOR.

Before getting into the process of expiation, the expiator must receive the blessings from
the parents and other elders in the house. Expiator must pray to his ancestor, and then he must
go to nearby Ganesh temple to get his blessings. If there is no Ganesh temple nearby he can
pray to Lord from home. The deity of the caravan and the guarding angel of the village
should be worshipped. The atoner should invoke the family deity and Goddess to get their
blessings. If possible, he must go to that place and worship or else he can pray from home

towards the direction of the temple. After completing these procedures, the process of
expiation can be done.

We should not bargain while purchasing the materials for expiation. At the same time, the
expiation must be done by the corresponding person and not by his parents or siblings.
During the time of expiation, he should not involve in argument or dispute. The expiator
should not let the enemies, jealous people and greedy people to get along with him while
performing expiation. In the presence of unmarried woman, one should not perform expiation
regarding one’s own marriage.

Wife should not indulge in the process of expiation without the presence of husband. One
should not interrupt or stop the process of atonement for any reason. The atoning material
should not be taken back to home. The donated things should not be given to the inetiquette
Brahmin and it should not be given to transgender also. After the process of expiation, he
must go home directly without staying anywhere on the way of journey. While going to
expiating place, one should not visit other temples.

REMEDIAL PROCESS

1. If the blemish causing planet stands on the sign of land, he/she need to wear
appropriate gemstone of the planet.
2. If the blemish causing planet stands on the sign of fire, a person should wave the
lamps or do oblation to the appropriate planet or to the great angels of those planets.
3. If a blemish causing planet stands on sign of wind, a person should recite the slogans,
mantras, shothrams, sahasranamam to the appropriate planet.
4. If a blemish causing planet stands on the sign of water, the materials of the
appropriate planet should be thrown out in the water after rounding it around the head
or else it must be donated to someone else.
5. In horoscope, if a corporal dominance of sinful planet stands strong, the materials of
the respective planets should be thrown out in water or should be donated to others.
6. If the corporal dominance of goodness lacks in the horoscope, the gems of the
particular planet should be worn by the person. He/she should not indulge in the
action of donation.
7. The relevant materials of the inauspicious planet should not be received as donation
from others.
8. The relevant materials of the auspicious planet can be received as donation from
others.
9. The planet that causes a particular blemish in the horoscope must be calculated from
the lakna and the particular person must perform expiation according to this
calculation.
10. A person must expiate a number of times, according to the position of the zodiac sign
in which the blemish causing planet is present.
11. The place of atonement should be chosen according to the presence of blemish
causing planet of appropriate zodiac sign. For instance, if Mars stands on the zodiac
sign of Leo, ‘Swamimalai’ Murugar should be worshipped. Leo is the house of sun.

God of sun is Shiva. God of Mars is Murugar. If Mars stands on the zodiac sign of
Leo, it should be taken as Lord Murugar rests on the lap of his father ‘Lord Shiva’. In
purana, there is a saying that, in ‘swamimalai’ Lord Murugar who is seated on Lord
Shiva’s lap, explained the meaning of principal things.
12. If the planet that causes blemish in the horoscope joins with another planet, the
atonement must be done to that planet also.

18. Taking care of the relationships mentioned in 9 planets.
19. Donating appropriate metal wares of 9 planets.
20. Wearing appropriate herbs of 9 planets.
21. Performing Homam with samiti of 9 planets.
22. Worshipping the Gods of 9 planets by visiting their shrine.

While suggesting the method of expiation, the astrologer must consider the family
circumstances, caste and religion, place of residence, societal situations, belief, culture,
tradition and economic status of the expiator. For instance, if the atoner is a common man, it
is impossible for him to recite mantras, shothras or performing Homams. A poor cannot
donate things. He cannot reach the distant shrine to do expiation. So the expiator’s eligibility
and possibility must be considered while suggesting the method of expiation.

Many books are published which describes the process of expiation. Some people read
such books and perform expiation of their own. Such progress will not work. Following the
suggestions and Mantras given by spiritual experts will definitely work instead of selecting
the Mantra by himself. Only those who have power of words and power of Mantras will get
the worthiness to give suggestions regarding expiation. This can be felt only through
experience. If the appropriate expiation is not done after getting the suggestion, the situation
will become even worse.

It is true that, many people are being deceived in the name of expiation. True astrologers
can be identified by the following qualities. They don’t praise themselves. They don’t expect
any fees. They will be simple and they don’t challenge others. They will behave modestly.
They will have no competition and jealousy. They will not expect others to respect them.

While hearing to the astrological benefit one should not ask any cross questions to the
astrologers. One should not make any argument with the astrologer in a harsh manner. If they
do so, the astrological benefit will not work properly. If a person who is having power in
his/her words, curses you, it will work the same. So it is good to behave properly with the
astrologer those who have power in their words. Even receiving the blessings from such
astrologers will destroy many blemishes.

Even though same kind of blemishes is found in many of the horoscope, the same kind of
remedy will not work for everyone. The innermost thought of the astrologer is given out as
the remedy for the problems. Though the horoscope has many blemish causing planets, the
presence of Jupiter in those planets is essential. If it is not there then there will be no remedy
for the planets that causes blemishes. So, every possibilities and eligibilities must be
considered while suggesting the method of atonement.

CHOOSING BENEFACTION THAT IS APPROPRIATE TO THE ZODIAC SIGN:

Benefaction should be chosen according to the zodiac sign and position of the planet that
causes blemishes in the horoscope. If the blemish causing planet represent mineral zodiac,
then gold, silver or 9 precious gems should be donated. If the blemish causing planet
represent Moola zodiac, flowers, vegetables, fruits and grains should be donated. If the
blemish causing planet represents the sign of life then, the living things like cow, buffalo,

WHAT IS THE REASON FOR PERFORMING EXPIATION ONLY IN SHIVA

TEMPLE?

God always wants to be with the body in which they actually are. Because of this they
approached God Guru to get suggestion. He said, consuming elixir produced by churning the
milk ocean can provide immortal life. He started to churn the milk ocean with the help of
giants. They believed the elixir to come out of it, but poison began to come. They all
approached Lord Shiva to save them. Lord Shiva saved all of them by consuming the poison
by himself. Then he later appeared as Kaamadenu, Karpagatharu, Mahalakshmi, and
ujjaisiravam and Iravadham.

Kamadenu was taken by Rishis, Karpagatharu was given to heaven, Mahalakshmi was
taken by Mahavishnu whereas Ujjaisiravam and Iraavadham was taken by Lord Indhira.

The truth we get from this incident is Lord Shiva accepts all our burdens and he gives back
good things to us. Lord Perumal increases the fertility of our life. Only because of this reason
expiation is done only in Lord Shiva temple. We appeal to the entire devotee to visit Lord
Shiva temple to get betterment in their life. The cover page of this book is designed in such a
manner to make people realize this truth.

METHOD OF EXPIATION TO BE FOLLOWED IN ATONING PLACE

At first, expiator must take bath in the tirth pond that is located in the atoning place.
After taking bath he should offer Deepam to anointment and do archana to God. After this,
Pradhikshana must be performed in the temple. After Pradhikshana he/she should sit in the
temple and pray for some time. He should also meditate. Before getting out of the temple,
one should offer money in the piggy bank present there. After getting out of the shrine, one
must offer something to the stranger and poor who are seated at the entrance of the temple.
After all this process, he/she should go to home without staying anywhere on the way.

METHOD OF DONATING THE METAL WARES THAT ARE APPRORIATE TO 9

PLANETS

First of all we have to choose the metal vessel that is appropriate to the planet of
expiation and then we have to fill it with the grains of appropriate planet and finally it should
be donated to others after rounding it around the head for three times. Usually the
sophisticated people will not accept these atoned materials, so it is good to donate it to poor
people.

METHOD OF DONATING CLOTHES

The colour of the cloth must be chosen according to the planet. The cloth may be a
saree, a fabric material, dhoti or a towel. This should be kept on a plate along with the betel
nut, coconut, banana and a one rupee coin. After getting blessings from the old and lovable
couple, the plate along with these materials should be donated to them.

At first, we should choose the grain that is appropriate to the planet. The grain should
be spreaded in a vessel and above that a candle should be lit. The expiator should get around
the vessel for 9 times. While getting around the vessel, expiator should recite the Gayatri
Mantra of suitable planet. After doing this, the vessel along with the grains should be donated
to the one who possess the cow as a food for it. The expiator himself can provide those grains
to the cows after soaking the grain in the water.

WAY TO WEAR GEM STONES

The gem we decide to wear should be soaked previous night in any of the following
ingredients like milk, panchkavya or holi basil. It is advised to clean the ring in pure water
during auspicious days. The cloth which belongs to suitable planet should be kept on the plate
and the cleaned ring is supposed to be placed before the plate. It should be worshipped by
reciting the Gayatri Mantra for the particular planet for 108 times. After performing all these
rituals, the ring can be worn.

PROCEDURE TO RECITE MANTRA

To recite the Mantra, appropriate Yantra must be chosen as per the planet and it
should be kept in the pooja room. Then, sit and show the Deepam to the Yantra by reciting
the Mantra. While reciting the Mantra, the flowers of appropriate planet should be kept on
Yantra. For each Yantra one flower should be kept. Likewise it should be followed for 108
times. Without extinguishing the Deepam, the Mantra should be recited.
