TEACHING CONJUNCTION

THROUGH VARIES TEACHING AIDS

INTRODUCTION

Teaching is an activity which includes knowledge, presentation, an also art (art of teaching).
Teaching demands broad knowledge of subject material, curriculum and lesson plan with standards,
along with positive and caring attitude to create enthusiasm in classroom. An ideal teacher is a figure
who builts a desire for learning and techniques of classroom management and a desire to make a
difference in the lives of young people as their students.
Furthermore, presenting english teaching materials need creative and inovative ways. That
statement indicates that both teacher and media as properties as are both reqiured. In delivering material
to built interactive atmophere, teacher usually needs media or it’s called teaching aids.
According to www.dictionary.com Merriam Webster says, “Teaching Aid is an object or device
used by a teachr to enhance classroom instruction and classrom study activities. Similarly to Ciric
(Metodicki obzori 9, 2014 volume 2, page15), teaching aids are accessts to a students as asource of
knowledge and material for developing of their studying skill. Poljak in his book (1985) classifies
teaching resources to visual, auditory, audio-visual and textual, here are the elaborations :
1) Visual teaching aids
have visible dimensions and they can be two-dimensional or three dimensional, and considering
their didactic function they can be static and dynamic (movable). Example drawings, posters,
maps, charts, filmstrips, relief, etc., and dynamic (movable) could be instruments, devices,
puzzles applications, movies, television shows and so on.
2) Auditory teaching aids
Serve as auditory sources of knowledge, for example, a variety of sound recordings of human or
animal expression and natural sounds
3) Audio-visual aids
combine audio and video components. Typical audio-visual aids are sound movies and television
shows in which the image is accompanied by appropriate sounds that emphasize the action
taking place in the pictures.
4) Text teaching resources include a variety a variety of text-based material that is used as a source
of knowledge and as a material for spiritual work. It includes textbooks, texts, articles,
encyclopedias, literary and scientific works.
However, the best teaching aids is the Teacher himself. Because teacher is the driver of the classroom
who drieves the class as per his desire. According to www.researchgate.net dictate William Arthur Ward
Quote, states : The mediocre teacher tells; The good teacher explains; The superior teacher demonstrate;
and The great teacher Inspires. This quote reveals that teacher is an aid who changes her/himself
according to the desired situation for facilitating and motivating the students in a better way.
One important things is, when all the teaching aids the conservative or the modern technology doesn’t
work properly, therefore the teacher himself must be all out person to gain the lesson goal.

APPLYING TEACHING AIDS

In this course for doing microteaching, the writer will apply variaties of teaching aids. In order to
get intention and focus of the students in the classroom. Nowadays, a lots of students complain that
their teacher is being monotonous in teaching impacted to lack motivation in learning English.
Some teaching aids that writer will apply will be combination between conervatives and modern media.
Topic that writer will deliver in the class is Conjunction. To make concept of Conjuntion easily to
remember is explained by simple Acronym and support it with modern technology using display board
and slides. Display board will be the representative of conervatives teaching aids, meanwhile slides will
be the reperesenatative from modern teaching resource. Because slides are used by modern devices
laptop and infocus. After delivering the material, according to the teaching phase the writer will do
evaluastion session. In evaluation session, the writer will give clear instruction to compete to each group
to finish question game about mastering Conjunction material.

After presentation session, the teacher will need to evaluate whether the students understand
the material or not. To evaluate it, the teacher can use simple game.
Steps to do the teaching aid games
 Students divide in to groups
 Hang the game tools on the wall
 Each groups gets some random answer about Conjunction on white strips
 They have to race matching the conjunction with the game tool on the walls
 Teacher will evaluate the group answers
