ORGANIZATIONAL INTRODUCTION

The Company where I did my internship is called Pakistan Telecommunication Company


(PTCL). PTCL has reached its service to almost every part of the country providing all
telecommunication services from basic telephony to data, internet, video conferences to
consumers and businesses all over the country with almost 2000 exchanges all providing at
least fixed line network and dial up internet service.
Some of its services are named below:
 Telephony
 Dial up internet
 Broadband
 IPTV
 Evo Wireless
PTCL is a leading provider of telecom voice and data services within Pakistan. As part of its
continuing infrastructure developments, PTCL has embarked upon a major investment
program in the Network Operations Center (NOC). Through the NOC, PTCL has been able
to address those issues with a complete convergence of the entire network on a single
platform. While talking about basic purpose of NOC, it is an apex in command center to
view, monitor and control networks, taken as a tool for managing network of networks; to
enhance and optimize network management through a transparent and centralized platform
and to create a highly available, adaptable and fault resilient network that can meet market
demand and offer customer satisfaction. It may be called as cross domain organization for
managing network provided by multiple vendors in multiple geographic locations, using set
of standardized processes and tools regardless of where in the PTCL infrastructure the
problem lies, the NOC aims to
 Provide up to date status of services.
 Identify and minimize impacts to costumer due to service outages.

The tenure of my internship was about 6 weeks. In this tenure, I was attached with the
network operational center NOC of PTCL
