II. THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS
a. Cấu trúc (form)
Câu khẳng định S + is/ am/ are + V-ing

b. Cách dùng (usage)
- Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn dùng để diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra tại thời điểm nói hoặc xung
quanh thời điểm nói.
Ví dụ: - I am reading a novel now.
(Tôi đang đọc một cuốn tiểu thuyết.)
- They are learning English at the moment.
(Bây giờ họ đang học tiếng Anh.)
- Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn dùng để diễn tả một kế hoạch tương đối chắc chắn sẽ xảy ra.
Ví dụ: - I am seeing a movie tonight.
(Tối nay tôi sẽ xem một bộ phim.)
- We are having a party at my house tonight.
(Tối nay chúng tôi sẽ có một bữa tiệc tại nhà tôi.)
c. Dấu hiệu nhận biết
Trong câu thường có các trạng từ sau: now (bây giờ), right now (ngay bây giờ), at the moment (tại
thời điểm hiện tại), at present (bây giờ), today (hôm nay)...
Hoặc một vài động từ như: Look! (trông kìa!) Listen! (Nghe kìa!)
d. Cách thành lập dạng V-ing
- Thông thường ta thêm đuôi -ing sau các động từ.
Ví dụ: watch  watching go  going
- Đối với các động từ có tận cùng bằng “e”, ta bỏ “e” và thêm đuôi “-ing”
Ví dụ: invite  inviting write  writing
- Các động từ có một âm tiết hoặc kết thúc bởi một phụ âm và trước đó là một nguyên âm thì ta
gấp đôi phụ âm cuối.
Ví dụ: begin  beginning swim  swimming
-Các động từ tận cùng –ie-> bỏ ie + ying
Ví dụ: lie -> lying die-> dying
- Note: Các trường hợp ngoại lệ:
begin - beginning travel - travelling /
traveling prefer – preferring permit - permitting
e. Lưu ý
Các động từ dưới đây không được chia ở thì hiện tại tiếp diễn khi chúng là những động từ tĩnh diễn
đạt trạng thái, giác quan hoặc tình cảm. Ta chia chúng ở thì hiện tại đơn thay thế cho thì hiện tại tiếp
diễn trong trường hợp này.
