1. Amplitude - the height of a wave from the origin to a crest, or from the origin to a trough

2. Wavelength - the shortest distance between equivalent points on a continuous wave

3. Frequency - the number of waves that pass a given point per second

4. Hertz - the SI unit of frequency, equal to one cycle per second

5. Electromagnetic Radiation - a form of energy exhibiting wave like behavior as it travels

through space, can be described by wavelength, frequency, amplitude, and speed

6. Spectrum - an image of distribution of components of any electromagnetic radiation

arranged in a progressive series according to wavelength

7. Atomic Emission Spectrum - the set of frequencies of electromagnetic waves given off

by atoms of an element, consists of a series of fine lines of individual colors.

8. Ground State - the lowest allowable energy state of an atom

9. Photons - a particle of electromagnetic radiation with no mass that carries a quantum of

energy

10. Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle - states that it is impossible to know simultaneously the

exact position and momentum of a particle.
