SCOPE OF OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT ( A Brief Discussion )

The scopes of operations management are the following: First is the Location of
the Facilities. It is important to take note that we should be careful in
choosing/selecting the location because once there is a huge investments made by
your organization/company in acquiring that place and the location is not suitable
with your business/activity then all of it will be useless. Next is the Production
Design. In order to provide a good service or satisfaction with the consumers, it is
important that the product meets the customer requirements. In this aspect, the
product goes into several processes/considerations that can meets the customer
satisfaction. Another scope of operations management is the Process Design, it
involves the process or the transformation of the product from raw material until it
becomes the finished product so it is very important to take things seriously in
deciding and planning for the overall concept of the product. Next is the Plant
Layout. Base from what I’ve understand, plant layout pertains to the arrangement or
structure of the building or facilities. Another one is the Material Handling. As the
name signifies, it refers to how the product was carefully treated/handled within or
outside the organization/company. Next is the Material Management. It pertains to
managing and controlling the supplies or materials that is needed for production
process. In order to have a best quality of supplies for the raw materials, we should
develop a good relationship with our suppliers. Next is the Quality Control that is in
charge of maintaining the best quality that can provide the customers satisfaction
either in the form of products or services. We should ensure that the product/services
is in good condition and not to be a defective one because it can tarnished
organizations/companies image or reputation and also the sales could decrease due to
mistreatment of the product/services. And lastly is the Maintenance Management.
For me, this is very important in terms of production process because without the
machineries, tools and equipment that is needed for the production, the entire process
will suffer and it can produce damage and it is also a waste of our time.
